For instance, if you give out happiness, happiness is what will return to you. Your behavior creates a cycle of action that comes back to you, making you feel happy.

Most of the events that affect your life are not, in fact random. They are actually being created by you through Karma. Your career and life are totally within your control, and the kind and amount of energy you give out will always return to you.
