Job-hunting in the world today can prove to be very challenging to say the least. One of the hottest jobs on the market today would have to be in Public Relations so if this is your field of choice, then you may have some competition to deal with on your job search. It is very important to have a certain edge to help you get the PR job that you want. Below is a list of the top ten tips for getting entry-level PR jobs. Be sure that you have a plan in place when you start your job search and have a good idea of the companies that you are targeting for the best PR jobs. You also want to know what it is you are looking for in an employer so that you will look confident in your interview. Employers like to see job candidates that have a plan mapped out and that they know where they want to be with their career 5 years down the road.

1. Show up early. If you are job-hunting for the right jobs in PR, then you want to be sure to show up in person and make sure that you are early. This will make a good impression and show that you are eager to get the job and reliable.
2. Dress the part. One of the first things a potential employer looks at is how you are dressed. If you show up in shabby clothes then you are making the impression that you are sloppy and careless and they may think that is how your work ethic is. You want to dress the part of the job. Be neat and professional.
3. Do not treat your possible employer like you are lifelong friends. You need to be courteous and professional and let him or her know that you are willing to do what it takes to get the job.

4. Show that you have confidence in yourself and your abilities. Employers like a person who is eager to learn and confident in what they know.
5. You can go directly to local places that handle PR jobs for various companies. Even if they are not hiring right now, you can make a good impression on them and leave your resume so that they can call you when a position becomes available. You can also let them know what positions that you are interested in. If you get your foot in the door, you can always work your way up in the company.
6. Try to get an internship at a PR company. You can show your assets while interning and then have a better chance of getting offered a permanent position once it becomes available.
7. Learn the business and the lingo. You want to look like you know what you're talking about and that you are not just trying to impress. You will be more likely to be chosen for the entry-level position if you are up to date on what is going on in the business.
8. Try checking in different areas for entry-level positions such as radio stations, newspapers, news stations etc. Sometimes you can get an entry level position in places that you may never thought of.
9. Keep a portfolio of work that you have done in this field. This way you can show how good you are in this area so that you are not just talking yourself up. This is a good way to let them see the experience you have, giving you a better leg up in the industry.
10. If you do get in the company but not in the area you want, be sure to do as much as you can by helping out or making offers to help in the department you want to be working in. Be sure that you complete all of your own work and then make it a point to be available to offer a lending hand when you can. This will show the employer that you are a good match for the position you want. You want to make yourself a valuable asset to the company and let them know that you have the company’s best interests at heart.
The main thing to do it to let them know that you want the job and that you are willing to do what it takes to get the job done.
