New technology downloads songs directly to iPod
The best entrepreneurial brains from Silicon Valley have started Lala.com because they plan to overhaul the CD-swapping site into an online music portal. This will enable members to download songs directly to their iPods, eliminating the need to save music to PC hard drives before uploading to the gadget. The technology will help members download songs by installing a 3-megabyte plug-in that will function on all major browsers.

The website has a deal in place to sell about 200,000 songs from Warner Music Group Corp. for 99 cents each. Guests on the site who have membership will be able to play Warner songs free of charge. The website currently has about 300,000 members and is supported by Bain Capital and Ignition Partners.

Parking lots to be high-tech
Integrated Parking Solutions, Inc., announced the launch of its wireless parking solutions. It has been tested and validated by Motorola, and will be used on Motorola's Canopy Wireless, MOTOMESH, as well as on HotZone Duo Wireless Broadband Networks as a part of the MOTOwi4 application. Integrated Parking Solutions is a leader in providing turn-key mobile handheld enforcement solutions for universities, corporations, and large municipalities. Intel and Asustek will make low-cost laptops
Intel Corporation and Asustek Computer, Inc., the world's biggest producer of computer motherboards, will join hands to come up with a notebook PC costing as little as $200. The new low-cost PC would be a fully loaded, low-end notebook, and would sell for $199-$299. This deal will target mass markets in developing countries. Intel has already in the past come up with a Classmates initiative, a scheme that aims to ship 1,230 low-cost PCs to governments in Asia.

Competitor Advanced Micro Devices has had the advantage over Intel in this market. But for the first time since 2005, AMD's market share has had a poor run in the first quarter of the current year. It slipped more than five percentage points to less than 20%.
