Microsoft offers assistance for beginners in business
Microsoft has joined hands with FedEx Corporate, MasterCard Worldwide, and Bank of America to provide a new start-up solution for entrepreneurs. The software giant will make enhancements to payroll systems, financial management, and shipping on Microsoft Startup Center. Microsoft Startup Center, a free online guide, provides step-by-step instruction, suggestions, and resources to help small-business owners start their own company or venture. Users of the Startup Center will have access to real-world tools that will help them start their own businesses. They will also have direct access to FedEx Express and FedEx Ground shipping facilities and time-saving tools. MasterCard Worldwide will provide Startup Center users with the access and benefits of cash-flow management systems, business intelligence, and special services.

Students display software ideas to Microsoft
Forty students from different parts of the globe got a chance to pitch their software innovations to Bill Gates, chairperson of Microsoft Corp., as part of a worldwide software development challenge. The Imagine Cup is Microsoft's global software design competition for students. This year the competition challenged students to come up with a product that would ease access to better education for all. The contest attracted 100,000 students from 100 countries, the finals of which will take place in Korea in August. The U.S. team prepared a service that enables students to help each other with the learning of languages as well as improving their ranking on the site every time they help another member.

T-Mobile launches Wi-Fi calling service
T-Mobile USA will start offering customers a new service that will use short-range Wi-Fi networks to enhance reception when required. The service would improve indoor coverage by automatically switching calls from cellular networks to Wi-Fi radio technology, used widely by users of laptops and cell phones. With this service, T-Mobile will compete by matching their service quality to wireline telephone companies. Subscribers would get access to this service by paying an extra fee of up to $19.99 per line. The company's service will work with Nokia 6086 or Samsung's t409 that the company plans to sell online or in its stores.
