SSMG is a core segment of Sysco’s US Foodservice division consisting of more than 20 specialty meat & seafood companies and 2500 employees, dedicated to servicing its customers with high quality and value-added protein center of the plate items.

SSMG is seeking a senior-level HR leader to drive HR strategy, initiatives and directives within companies located in Illinois, Ohio, Baltimore, Rhode Island, New Jersey, Charlotte and Atlanta. The role is based in Buckhead Meat Northeast’s office in Edison, NJ. Travel is required, estimated to be 50-75% of time, to companies within are of responsibility.

Responsibilities include:

Participate in the strategy of the SSMG, regional practices, and the business priorities of the region; proactively interact with regional leaders and line partners/manager to strategically identify company-wide Human Resources goals and objectives to ensure they are consistent with the business goals.

Implement Corporate Human Resources policies, procedures, and practices and ensure they are implemented successfully at all levels; oversee the regional execution of all general Human Resources programs including the following: performance management, training, employment law compliance, compensation and benefits administration, employee relations, retention, workforce optimization, and diversity and inclusion.

Support leadership team in establishing company culture and behaviors that support Sysco’s overall vision, mission, and core values (integrity, teamwork, excellence, inclusiveness, and responsibility).

Provide leadership and guidance across the assigned region with regard to overall Human Resource activities.

Lead, support, and develop team of HR Managers as business partners in support of company strategy and objectives.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams

Provide coaching, negotiations, and counsel to leaders as appropriate to ensure clear communication and problem resolution.

Monitor systems, processes, and overall compliance with Sysco and external programs related to Ethics, Code of Conduct, OFCCP/AAP, EEO, data integrity, etc.

Develop internal reporting and communication strategies/cadence at the companies.

Provide analytical reporting to assist with Area and company management.

Education/Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or related field required; Master’s Degree preferred

Certification in one of the following is a plus: Human Resources Certification Institute (HRCI), Professional Human Resources (PHR), or Senior Professional Human Resources (SPHR)

7 years’ experience in HR, and 3 years’ experience in HR leadership position

Qualifications:

Comprehensive knowledge of the principles and practices of Human Resources management, and federal and state laws governing HR functional areas

Ability to serve as a successful participant on the executive management team that provides company leadership and direction

Ability to lead change, and remain flexible and adaptable to change

Ability to identify, lead and develop talent

Ability to establish trust and credibility

Highly collaborative and action-oriented, with a leadership style characterized by strong influencing skills; someone who is a change agent who can build collaborative relationships across the company

Above average oral and written communication skills

Excellent interpersonal and coaching skills

Excellent computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment
