Job Description You are a smart, passionate audience-first, data-driven news professional. You are a leader, a teacher, a coach, a cheerleader and an innovator. You lead the charge on building an AUDIENCE-FIRST content team on every screen by active listening, responding, and tracking metrics. The Audience Engagement Manager is expected to lead our efforts at daily digital priorities and audience engagement across News, Local Programming, special content and station initiatives. The ability to work collaboratively with anchors, reporters, producers, photographers and managers on short- and long-range projects is critical. Work on a daily and long term basis with Digital Director and digital team to guide digital publishing priorities and strategies. Track digital metrics around KPIs to keep digital team focused on important, engaging work. Work with Digital Director to develop new ways to grow visitor loyalty and other KPIs. Contribute digital audience insights to content-planning and daily execution strategy for all screens. Use Omniture, Google Analytics, Chartbeat, Crowdtangle, and other data to help drive strategic direction for content and marketing initiatives. Lead social listening strategy and training with digital director and other newsroom leaders. Work with News Director, Digital Director, and other content leaders on developing effective audience flow strategies. Work with the digital team on planning the flow of content on digital and social to lead to broadcast and to loop back around. Help create new audience experiences around content on every screen. Oversee and chart direction for engagement with the audience on various social platforms - Facebook, Twitter, Instagram etc. Assist and support the digital producer team to distribute KING 5 content and other engaging stories\/user generated content on our branded social accounts. Coach other members of the newsroom in better ways to assist in publishing. Work with reporters on improving their own social engagement, and building their own vibrant communities on their social accounts. Work closely with Digital Director and others on the K5 Innovation project to strategically track and pivot projects as necessary with an eye to revenue opportunities. Guide training of reporters and newscast producers on best digital practices - including writing, video, and interactive presentations. Contribute to cross-country collaboration with other TEGNA stations on best practices, emerging trends and teaching and coaching opportunities as they related to audience engagement. Be an early adopter of new trends, tools and technologies that would enhance audience engagement and social publishing activities at both KING 5 and TEGNA. Share that information as you keep pace with rapid changes in digital media. Identify and communicate ideas for marketing content, products and services to multiple audiences in collaboration with the Marketing team. Job Requirements A bachelor's degree in journalism, marketing, film, media arts or equivalent Three to five years of experience programming digital content for a news brand, with a focus on digital video and social media At least two years managing a team Outstanding written and oral communication skills Strong leadership, writing and organizational skills Demonstrated use of Adobe SiteCatalyst, Chartbeat, Facebook Insights, Twitter analytics and other data tools Experience in using Xpri, PowerPoint and Excel Desktop video editing and graphics production skills using server-based digital video systems Knowledge of Western Washington area About TEGNA: TEGNA Inc.
