Mission Support and Test Services (MSTS) is a dynamic team of experts and leaders from Honeywell International Inc. (Honeywell), Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. (Jacobs), and Stoller Newport News Nuclear, Inc. (SN3) - a subsidiary of Huntington Ingalls Industries (HII) for the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA). The NNSA is the U.S. agency responsible for enhancing national security through the military application of nuclear science. This position will support the Nevada National Security Site (NNSS), a United States Department of Energy (DOE) reservation located in southeastern Nye County, Nevada, about 65 miles northwest of the city of Las Vegas.

We are seeking a Board Certified Occupational Medicine Physician to join our dynamic, experienced Occupational Medicine team.

The Medical Director role will interface with medical facility leadership and members of our DOE community to develop a comprehensive population health management program for an employee population that has grown to nearly 2400 people working in various office and field locations to include high-hazard locations. This full-time position will provide clinical and administrative leadership for various programs and services as deemed to be under the Occupational Medicine Program purview. The Medical Director will foster new, and enhance existing, client relationships in an effort to maintain the high standards of the current organization through the development and implementation of new programs, policies, and services.

Primary duties for the Medical Director will include establishment and maintenance of a solid reputation for clinical excellence, compassionate care, and provide treatment to diverse clientele including those in the nuclear, transportation, public safety, testing, research and development, maintenance and construction industries. Some of the services provided by the Occupational Medical Department include:

* Protective Forces, Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), firefighter, mine safety and Department of Transportation (DOT)/19A examinations

* Routine pre-placement and fit for duty examinations

* Injury/Illness Evaluation(s) and Case Management

* Worker's Compensation program

* OSHA Injury and Illness Record Keeping and Reporting

* OSHA surveillance for heavy metals, asbestos, and other exposures

* Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (Hazwoper)

* Hearing conservation

* Immunizations and vaccine management

* Respiratory Protection Program

* Blood Borne Pathogen and Occupational Hazards Program

* Employee Assistance Programs (EAP) and wellness

* Travel Medicine

The Medical Director position requires a Physician trained in either Internal, Aerospace (Military) or Occupational medicine who is Board Certified in good standing, in Occupational Medicine. The physician in this role will need to meet the necessary requirements to serve as the Site Physical Protection Medical Director (PPMD): the physician programmatically responsible for the overall direction and operation of the site medical program supporting the requirements of this part in accordance with 10 CFR 712 and 1046.4. Other regulations to meet requirements of include 10 CFR 851, 707 and associated DOT and FAA regulations as applicable to medical and safety requirements.

Duties for the Medical Director include:

* Assess patient care plans; provide patient care and follow-up

* Utilize clinic services to provide, diagnose, treat and monitor injuries and illnesses

* Perform comprehensive fit for duty (reliability, safety, or security) assessments through the evaluation and integration of medical evaluations, testing results,

prescription drug use, psychological/psychiatric evaluations and other relevant information

* Medical assessment of Human Reliability Program (HRP) candidates and HRP-certified individuals

* Serve as Medical Review Officer (MRO) for all drug testing requirements

* Assists onsite Emergency Medical Services (EMS) personnel in extending scope of practice

* Work with the EMS and the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) to support mass casualty and emergency response events

* Serve as a coach and mentor to advanced practitioners, nursing, clinical and medical support staff

* Attends and presents at other departments, groups or agencies as needed to meet requirements under 10 C.F.R.: Worker Safety and Health Program

* Maintain compliance with all State, Federal and Department of Energy regulations and requirements

Education and Experience Required:

* Degree in medicine from an accredited medical school

* Licensed to practice medicine (Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy) preferably in the State of Nevada.

* Board Certified in Occupational Medicine

* Preferred areas of specialty in Occupational, Internal, Aerospace and/or Military.

* No restrictions, sanctions or pending actions against medical licensure

* 10 years of post-residency clinical practice is required. Medical management experience and occupational medicine practice experience is preferred.

* DEA (controlled substance) license

* MRO and DOT examination, and qualifying physician certifications (examiners number)

* Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE-Q government security clearance

* Must have a valid driver's license.

* Must be coverable under Medical Malpractice Insurance

* Must be a US Citizen.

* Must demonstrate past professional performance and personal conduct suitable for a position of responsibility and trust.

* Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language proficiently

Office environment 40%, clinical atmosphere 60%. Requires ability to provide clear, concise, accurate and timely communication, both verbally and in writing (100%). Physical Requirements

Must be able to frequently lift, move, bend and extend above the head up to 20lbs. This position requires finger dexterity, use of both left and right hands. While performing this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. Requires sitting for extended periods of time in meetings with peers, management, clinical staff and patients to discuss medically related issues (10%). Also, requires sitting for extended periods of time at a desk to write and document medical reports and records (30%). Requires ability to use stairs or elevators for access between floors and multiple buildings.

Equipment and Machines

Requires ability to operate diagnostic medical equipment, personal computer, a telephone, fax machine, copier, calculator, and other general office equipment (100%).

Attendance

Normal workday may vary from working 3 12's with rotating Saturdays or Monday, Wednesday, Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. with Tuesday and Thursday 10:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Overtime may be required (10%) to meet schedule milestones and to support clinical demands of the job. Regular attendance is a necessity and adequate arrangements for delegating duties during absences are required.

Other Essential Functions

While performing triage and/or responding to an emergency situation, may be required to move and or lift patient with or without assistance. Requires the ability to occasionally assist patients with mobility needs.

The ability to work independently with minimal supervision, and to make rational decisions, and to exercise good judgment is essential (100%). Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others.
