Tetra Tech is actively pursuing a civil engineer to work in our New York (Downtown Manhattan/Financial District) office. The ideal candidate must have strong quantitative skillsets to support municipal, state, federal and private projects in the northeast and throughout the nation. This is an engaging and high impact position in which the successful candidate will work closely with national industry leaders to support clients with general civil engineering design on stormwater, water, wastewater, civil/site, solid waste, traffic and transportation projects. The successful candidate will work as a team member to support routine and non-routine assignments related to civil and environmental projects of substantial variety and complexity. Responsibilities include:
Prepare drainage plans
Conduct research related to engineering policies and practices 
Conduct hydrologic and hydraulic analysis 
Prepare engineering reports 
Analyze watershed and water quality data using GIS and statistical techniques 
Develop or prepare descriptive charts, figures/maps, and tables/matrices 
Support design analysis through application of quantitative and qualitative evaluation techniques 
Prepare construction documents (plans and specifications) 
Support cost-benefit analysis 
Perform construction observations 
Perform writing assignments to contribute to project documentation and deliverables such as memos and reports 
Assist with quality control and assurance
Prepare permit applications and support materials

Job Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in environmental/civil engineering (or a related field) 
EIT certification and up to 5 years of relevant engineering experience 
Demonstrated educational and relevant work experience showing strong analytical, written and verbal communication skills 
Background or training in civil/site development, wastewater and/or stormwater design 
Familiarity with elements of the design-bid-build process including engineering analysis, permitting, development of construction documents (plans and specifications), cost estimating, and construction administration and observation 
Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and ArcGIS 
Desire to learn other design software programs 
Computer literate; knowledge of MS Word and Excel
