Lead formulation chemist managing innovation and development activities for wind coatings at PPG. Responsibilities include idea generation, technology scouting, planning, conducting and coordinating experiments for new product technology platforms supporting PPG’s organic growth strategy. Experience in coatings formulation and in the field of wind power coatings is a plus. Must be a self-starter and have demonstrated leadership capacity
CORE JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Deliver coatings solutions for the wind market by leveraging the fundamentals of coatings science, aggregating information from various expert sources and collaborating globally.
Establish product performance criteria and test methods to guide product development via close collaboration with the marketing team and other business partners
Understand intellectual property for competitive intelligence and generating new protected technology for PPG.
Regular and effective communication with stakeholders including product management, business leaders, internal and external customers.
Domestic and international travel may be required, approximately 10% of time.
','!*!Experience and Education
PhD in a technical field such as chemistry/polymer science/material science/ chemical engineering or related.
Some experience in formulating industrial coatings.
Bachelor/Master’s Degree in chemistry/material science/engineering or related with equivalent experience may be considered
Functional and Technical Skills
Leadership skills with lead-by-example attitude. Project and time management skills, hands-on entrepreneurial spirit
Communication skills (verbal, written, and presentation) with the ability to interact effectively across all levels of an organization and within cross functional teams
Ability to develop and interpret novel test methods
Ability to design and develop experiments based on statistical Sigma Logic principles
