GENERAL MANAGER- MAINTENANCE PRIMARY DUTIES Responsible for leading the maintenance operations which includes mechanical, electrical, combustion and automotive craftsmen as well as bricklayers at our Reading Operations. Works with his/her team to ensure the highest levels of safety, environmental compliance and product & service quality, while focusing on optimizing best practices, preventative maintenance, repairs, sustainability, attaining the highest levels of productivity and achieving the lowest cost of production. This role has a strong emphasis on professional management: budgeting and forecasting, labor & equipment utilization, capital planning, preventative maintenance, and ensuring manufacturing best practices and tools are fully utilized across the maintenance operations. Oversee and effectively manage maintenance functions that are related to safety, environment, quality performance and maintenance personnel. Safety: Ensures that equipment and processes meet or exceed Carpenter Standards. Pursue a culture of safety that is best in class and aligns with organizational objectives. Actively engages with the workforce to reinforce safe behaviors. Environment: Establishes the environment as a priority in maintenance management. Reinforces the need to meet or exceed environmental compliance among maintenance personnel. Operations Strategy: Develops a maintenance strategy for the maintenance department that identifies maintenance deficiencies and areas of opportunity based on current and systematic processes. Planning: Ensures the proper processes and tools are utilized to plan maintenance activities: examples include maintenance programs, safety, performance planning/budgeting & forecasting. Maintenance Analysis and Action Tracking: Ensures that key maintenance data is reviewed and analyzed monthly (i.e. cost items, uptime/downtime, Tons per person-hour, tons per operated hour, etc). Tracks progress against actions and targets. Investigates variances and ensures corrective actions are established and executed. Problem Solving/Continuous Improvement:  Clear understanding and implementation of existing Lean Manufacturing tools that are focused on strategic problem solving and continuous improvement (ie:  A3, TPS, 5S, Heijunka, Gemba, JIT, Poka-Yoke, SMART Goals, TPM, Value Stream Mapping, Human Performance(HPI), etc). Perform all other duties and special projects as assigned. REQUIREMENTS Four-year degree preferred with a focus in engineering, technical or related field. Minimum of 7 year’s relevant experience in a leadership/managerial role. Human Performance experience preferred. Strong problem solving and analytical skills. Excellent people management skills; ability to develop effective internal and external relationships. Disciplined and process-oriented Prior knowledge in a manufacturing/industrial setting with a strong focus on safety with demonstrated performance, success in change management and human performance along with the ability in building and developing a high-performance team.  Expertise in FMEA concepts to drive predictive/preventative maintenance, equipment prioritization based upon operational impact and overall reliability engineering.
