VF has embarked on building Global Innovation Centers (GIC) to develop game‐changing advancements in apparel, footwear and accessories for its 30‐plus brands. We are continuing to build out teams of designers, developers, materials innovators, engineers, and chemists for our Performance Apparel and Footwear Innovation Centers.
As part of the Global Innovation Center, you will work collaboratively with Advanced Manufacturing and Global Supply on innovation projects that impact textile, apparel, footwear, and additive manufacturing processes as we transition to the 4th Industrial Revolution. Focus includes digital design driven manufacturing, additive manufacturing, automation & robotics, textile manufacturing, product assembly technologies, and next generation materials creation. We’re committed to increasing manufacturing flexibility and demand responsiveness to better serve consumer needs and desires, while at the same time driving reductions in inventory, waste, and resource intensity regarding water, energy, and chemistry.
As a founding leader of VF’s startup R&D pilot manufacturing facility and reporting to the Facility Director, the Sr. Operations Manager will not only lead the overall operational excellence for the pilot facility, but is also instrumental in creating a foundation for new methods of manufacturing. This new facility enables VF to meet product creation objectives associated with VF’s 2021 business strategy and plays a key role in establishing the future of manufacturing at VF.
Accountable to drive the operational line evolving fabric materials to be colored and finished
Be a partner to a variety of roles within the GIC, VF and external partners to develop new capabilities to create and manufacture product
Managing the operation, people, and connectivity of equipment; scheduling shift workers; observing safety conditions; and ensuring environmental compliance
Aid in the creation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to meet all quality and safety requirements as outlined by applicable Code of Federal Regulation (CFRs) and help to ensure SOPs enable “easy” replication of pilot facility innovations and learnings across the Supply Chain
Coordinate necessary training of Production personnel for all equipment set-up and SOPs; ensure a safe work environment for employees
Manage inventories, order management, and order fulfillment
Manage and organize scheduling of all direct and contract labor
With facility Director, lead, promote and drive facility talent management / employee engagement; ensuring hiring, retention, and development of top talent
SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Textile Sciences or equivalent combination of technical and business experience
Minimum 10 years of overall work experience with at least 5 years in textile product development (specifically textile finishing) and at least 3 years in a people management / leadership capacity
Significant business unit management (P&L responsibility, cost center ownership) experience is strongly preferred
Computer proficiency and digitally savy
Excellent communication, collaboration, and relationship building skills; able to effectively work across VF globally, with vendor partners and the general public
Strong people leader, effectively manages employee performance and professional growth
Excellent problem solver and innovator, willing and eager to challenge the status quo, but always with a business pragmatism behind one’s aspirations
Self-starter who will ramp up quickly and thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment; willing to wear many hats / do what it takes to get the job done
Willing and able to work additional hours when needed
Light-manufacturing environment - Must be physically capable of working in conditions normally associated with a merchandise warehouse or distribution center, such as, but not limited to, warm and cold temperatures, seeing and hearing moving equipment to stay out of harms way, and continuous power equipment noise
Bend, lift, open, and move product up to 50 pounds
