Analyze and prepare standard and non-standard journal entriesGather high transaction volume data from multiple sources including internal departments and vendors to meet strict month end close deadlinesAnalyze P&L accounts to proactively note and potentially resolve large variances from month to monthUse accounting judgment with situational data in order to properly represent general ledger accounting coding in journal preparation and supporting schedulesAnswer ad hoc P&L questions from management and executivesDevelop and implement accounting procedures by analyzing current procedures; recommend changes and train other staff as backups within the departmentReconcile balance sheet accounts and follow up to clear variancesPrepare quarterly and annual schedules for other departments and internal and external auditReview/code/approve daily vendor invoices for proper codingAssist Aaron’s associates and managers to resolve issues and research inquiries from managers and executives
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance requiredKnowledge of GAAP, month end close process, and balance sheet reconciliation proceduresWorking knowledge of Word/Outlook/Access and advanced Excel skillsPreferred working knowledge of Lawson Financial Suite or other ERPDeadline driven with strong research, analysis, organizational, and time management skillsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsAbility to work independently and as part of a team
