POSITION SUMMARY:

The Learning and Development manager works with business leadership to develop and execute a learning & development strategy that aligns to and supports the achievement of Michael Foods strategic initiatives and goals including a training structure that can deliver sustainable training that supports service excellence with our customers. Leads the design, development, delivery and evaluation of L&D solutions, processes and materials needed to foster employee development that enables employees to perform against stated business metrics and expectations. A combination of e-learning, classroom, virtual and OJT is used to enhance skills for manufacturing, farm operations and functional associates. This role will report to our Chief Human Resources Officer.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Creates and implements sustainable training model and structure for operations, farms and functions; includes development and ownership of both initial onboarding and continuous training

Identifies current and future training needs through in-depth analysis of desired future organizational capabilities including overall talent pipeline needs

Develops short and long term training and development strategy and corresponding execution plan for the field team, aligned to overall business strategy and objectives; ensures effectiveness of training options for a dispersed workforce

Leads efforts to manage current programs (Michael Foods University) and develop new programs and training curriculum as needed by the business; creates appropriate materials and updated content as needed

Develops and implements a leadership development program for the enterprise

Interfaces with various subject-matter experts to develop training programs

Ensures Michael Foods development and delivery strategies for training and education programs meet contemporary standards; develops and delivers training directly including train-the-trainer curriculum

Acts as primary liaison with third party training vendors

Manages fiscal aspects of training including ROI of programs and meeting budget standards

Establishes effective metrics and oversees tracking of employee training and course offerings

Understands, demonstrates and promotes the principles of Michael Foods mission and values

Travel up to 40%

Performs other related duties as assigned

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Bachelor’s Degree in HRD, Organization Development, Industrial Relations, Business or equivalent

2 years’ experience leading/managing others

10 years of training experience

5 years of experience with training assessments, design, development, implementation, facilitation, and evaluation

2 years’ experience working with a Learning Management System (LMS)

PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

Masters HRIR, HRD, HROD

Excellent skills in application of the ADDIE model for instructor led and virtual training

Experience with design, delivery, evaluation of e-learning

Excellent interpersonal skills, team-oriented approach and ability to establish rapport quickly and collaborate effectively with all employee levels

Excellent communication skills: written, presentation and speaking

Proven proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Outlook

Ability to influence up and across levels, functions, divisions within an organization
