**LINGUISTIC SPECIALIST (LANGUAGE LEAD) RUSSIAN OR CHINESE**
Based in the Netherlands (Maastricht) or the US (Minneapolis)
The Medtronic Translations department is dedicated to be Medtronic’s natural choice to localize Medtronic’s product/therapy documentation and software as well as Medtronic marketing and corporate documentation in the language of our customers; our goal is to increase the access of patients to our products and therapies.
In the commitment to giving excellent and professional service to the client and building/maintaining a good relationship/partnership with our internal clients, we are building and maintaining a team and processes that is optimized for flexibility, stretched capacities and great responsiveness.
As a result we are looking for a talented and enthusiastic Linguistic Specialist to strengthen our team in Maastricht.
We offer you an exciting job in which you deliver translations that are correct, consistent and understandable and ensure that Medtronic localization processes are efficient, cost-effective and safe. You are 70-80% of your time working on projects translating text and/or reviewing text translated by freelancers, vendors and translation resources. The remaining time you identify, quantify and propose solutions to challenges faced by your language group and participate in continuous improvements, e.g. report inefficiencies in translation tools and/or processes.
You also help maintaining an effective pool of freelancer translators and revisers, work on translation management maintenance and on terminology management. You work closely with and share knowledge amongst other team members to provide efficient, effective and uninterrupted translation service to internal clients.
Ability to write in, and translate into Russian or Chinese, on a native speaker level, with technical writing proficiency
Fluent in written and spoken English is a must
3-5 years’ experience in translation, preferably in technical and medical translations
Bachelor level in Translation, Linguistics or similar
Affinity with process improvement and project management
Thorough knowledge of standard PC applications: MS Word, Excel
Ability to learn and interest in learning new software
Advanced understanding and working knowledge of CAT tools and process for translation of both documentation and software
You are a team player with strong communication skills who is able to work under deadlines. You show independence and ability to take initiative as well as strong problem solving skills. You are able to multitask in combination with a keen eye for detail. You are reliable as well as highly engaged to provide the best support.
