The Logistics Specialist
is primarily accountable for administrative activities that support Shipping and Receiving activities for the McDonough Plant. This position contributes directly to distribution activities that enable Ecolab to achieve cost management, customer service and continuous improvement targets. The Logistics Specialist is also expected to analyze and resolve exception situations, as well as, identify opportunities for improvement. This position is responsible for providing quality customer service to end users, distributors, and internal/external Ecolab customers.
Support activities include acting upon Customer Service feedback messages, follow-up on delivery exceptions, filing of freight claims, scheduling of customer deliveries and returns, processing driver trip paperwork. This position contributes directly to achieving customer service and distribution expense targets.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Manage receiving schedule of inbound shipments for vendors
Accounting of receiving and keying product from rail cars into inventory accurately and timely
Managing Rail car inbounds and outbounds schedule
Partner with procurement to resolve inventory discrepancies
Reports damages and discrepancies for accounting, reimbursement and record-keeping purposes.
Completes shipping and receiving reports
Maintains inventory accuracy through accurate ERP transactions
Using a warehouse management system, prepare accurate bills of lading for outbound freight.
Ensures that drivers depart with appropriate paperwork
Inspects items and reports damaged or missing parts to supervisor. Arranges for any necessary returns
Data Entry, Knowledge of SAP is a Plus
Verify inbound documents and receive them into our system according to procedures
Investigate and resolve situations where items received are not properly received and documented
Reconciles computer records with physical inventory according to established schedule
Determine shipping method for materials, using knowledge of shipping procedures and rates
Packs, seals, labels and affixes postage to prepare materials for shipping
Confer and correspond with establishment representatives to rectify problems such as damages, shortages, and nonconformance to specifications
Requisition and store shipping materials and supplies to maintain inventory of stock
Track and report spend of particular supplies
Must be able to have flexible work hours
Must represent Ecolab in a positive and professional manner
Basic Requirements & Qualifications:
Effective oral and written communication skills
Mathematical aptitude and problem solving ability
Strong attention to detail
High school diploma or equivalent
Computer Literacy to include working knowledge of Excel, Word, and Outlook
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
Warehouse/Inventory Management skills
Must be able to clearly and concisely communicate with employees throughout the organization
Must be organized, able to multi-task and work in a fast paced environment
-2 years’ experience in a transportation related capacity
Must be able to lift 15-20 lbs
College classes or degree
2-5 years experience in a customer service position
2-5 years’ experience in a warehouse, transportation, shipping and receiving related capacity
