Perform a variety of building and equipment maintenance duties including machinery installation and repair, PLC operations, robotics, knowledge of 24 to 480 volt electrical functions, pipefitting, welding, cutting, and carpentry.

Work from blueprints, schematics, sketches, hydraulic repair manuals, work orders and verbal instructions. Discuss machine malfunction with operator and determine extent of ordinary repairs. Tear down unit and repair damaged mechanism; replace or repair worn parts, fit bearings, bushings, gears for smooth operation; reassemble and try out. Use precision tools and equipment; maintain own hand tools, replacement parts as necessary. Assist and/or repair of electrical controls and make modifications to machinery as instructed. Move, position, and align machinery; prepare foundations as required. Install power transmission equipment such as drives and shafts, machine attachments such as brackets and guards. Install conduit to machinery running electrical service to machinery. Maintain and repair HVAC units. Lay out, prepare and install piping for air, water, steam, hydraulic, and gas line. Perform carpentry work such as constructing bins, benches and shelves. Maintain and test boiler and cooling system for chemical stability. Complete required maintenance records,PM sheets and CMMS documentation. Use lift truck, articulated lift and /or scissor lift. Order parts required for repairs and PM’s.
Record time and production information or proper forms. Detect and report faulty equipment, defective material, improper operations, and unusual conditions to proper supervision. Observe all safety rules and regulations; maintain 5S elements of work areas. Perform daily maintenance.
Responsible for the proper identification, collection and storage of hazardous waste generated during the performance of routine and non-routine job duties. Employees are required to have Hazardous Waste Handling Training annually.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required
Use shop mathematics, work from blueprints,schematics, repair manuals and computers.
Knowledge of mechanics, hydraulics, welding, pipefitting, electrical functions, PLC and Robotics to effectively diagnose machine problems. Equivalent to 2 to 3 years trades training.
Perform a variety of building and equipment, maintenance duties including machinery installation and repair, run conduit, pipefitting, welding, cutting, and carpentry. Judgment required to determine extent of repairs, replace or repair parts, fit bearing, gears, move and install machinery.
Moderate physical demand consisting of frequently exerting moderate and occasionally exerting average effort in handling tools and instruments moving and positioning parts and materials.
Continuous mental and visual attention required to perform a variety of electrical, electronic, building and equipment maintenance duties.
Constant care in working overhead and in handling pipe and conduit close to electric circuits up to 480 volts to prevent serious or partially incapacitating injuries to others.
Responsible for own work and any work performed while assisting others, cleanliness of shop and places where work is performed.
Somewhat disagreeable working conditions. Exposure to dirt, oil, and noise with at least one being continuously present to the extent of being disagreeable.
Exposure to water, oil, boiler, chemicals, Uses lift truck.
