Responsible for managing world-wide transportation services for Abbott Diabetes Care, inclusive of: raw material movement from suppliers, finished goods movements from manufacturing sites, and distribution to end customers. Directly impacts the effective use of the transportation budget for ADC ($30 million base). Each affiliate having budgetary responsibility for their region which requires the individual in the positon to have demonstrated effectiveness working with a matrix organization. Responsible for insuring ADC meets all of the regulatory guidelines established by the Federal Government's US Customs and Compliance agency and satisfying the internal requirements of Abbott Corporate Customs department.
Responsible for review/analysis of transportation service suppliers, issuing bid sheets, analyzing results, gaining support of key stakeholders, transitioning service providers as needed with minimal disruption to customer needs.
Facilitate and coordinate multifunctional team meetings to ensure initiatives are accomplished.
Responsible for on time execution of customer requirements related to internal and external providers.
Responsible for the management of Third Party Logistics partners in transportation, distribution, and customs compliance.
Responsible for freight payment oversight including coordination of funding the purchase orders to facilitate payment.
Work with Customer Service organizations to identify opportunities for improving services, reducing costs, and delivering value to both customer and ADC.
Responsible for ADC maintaining Customs compliance requirements through inbound files of clearance documentation and issue resolution.
Maintain ongoing awareness of changes in US Customs Law and the countries of export for the purposes of understanding impact on ADC.
Responsible for maintaining route tables that drive systems direction concerning service provider to be utilized for different service requirements.
Develop key performance indicators to monitor outcomes and drive improvements.
Responsible for developing documentation of procedures and expectations for transportation service providers to eliminate claims against ADC.
Engage in external bench marking activities to understand the marketplace as it relates to transportation and customs/compliances.
Develop and manage staff members including analysts, interns, Professional Development Program (PDP) assignments, providing opportunities/challenges for growing future AC leaders.

BA in Business or BS in related technical field e.g. Engineering. Master’s degree a plus. 7 years with either Transportation Company or in Distribution Operations. Demonstrated excellent Project Management, analytical and communication skills. Proven track record of successful negotiation with both internal and external customers, vendors, service providers and support organizations. Demonstrated competency in presenting to senior management.
