Supports the Director, Investor Relations in maintaining effective and constructive relations with the Company’s investors and sell side analysts. Monitors developments in each of NJR’s portfolio of businesses and the entire Company to keep current on changes that can impact valuation. Applies financial acumen and measures to effectively communicate an accurate portrayal of the Company’s financial and business results and its prospects for the future to the financial community. Under the guidance of the Director, participates and initiates in-person meetings, digital and one-on-one communications, and conversations with people inside the company and with current and prospective investors and sell side analysts.
Reports directly to the Director, Investor Relations to support them as an authorized Company spokesperson with the financial community.
Writes, organizes and prepares financial communications – including memos, and earnings communications.
Leverages social media in support of Investor Relations efforts.
Develops graphical representations of complex financial and operational concepts using PowerPoint or other graphical software applications as part of specific strategic investor relations communication efforts. 5. Assists the Director in working with the senior management team and General Counsel to assure adherence to SEC and exchange regulations.
Supports the preparation and execution of annual investor relations plan to obtain and maintain a fair market value for the Company’s common stock.
Assists the Director in developing relationships with and maintaining regular contact with all pertinent members of the investor community to provide up-to-date information about events and market trends affecting NJR with the objective of supporting the Company’s long-term valuation goals.
Supports the maintenance and development of the database of existing and prospective analysts who cover NJR and of existing and prospective institutional investors, on an ongoing basis.
Supports the development and maintenance of a program to encourage investment in NJR by focusing on new prospects and former investors, both from the buy and sell-sides.
Contributes to the preparation of and execution of “road shows,” for analysts and institutional investors. Prepares all presentation materials used by senior management in a variety of investor-related settings, including the annual shareowner meetings.
Supports the Director by meeting with institutional and other key shareholders to review and obtain comments for management on investor sentiment.
Assists with the coordination of quarterly earnings releases and conference calls.
Supports the Director in maintaining fiscal responsibility for the department.
Assists in measuring the effectiveness of the Company’s investor relations program through the quality and accuracy of external analyst research and earnings estimates, increasing sell side coverage, as well as the addition of the new share owners, data, and/or third-party perception surveys.
Supports Chairman’s office staff and others in the organization in preparation of Board and other meeting presentations (e.g., Financial Community, Annual Shareholder’s Meeting, and Investor Conferences) and other special projects
Education and Experience
BS degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field or equivalent work experience. Requires five to seven years of experience working in an Investor Relations role. Must have an understanding of how investors value the Company’s businesses and equity. Must also have strong analytical, organizational, interpersonal and communication skills. Requires strong knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and other graphical design software applications.
