Our McBee, SC facility is located midway between Columbia, SC and Charlotte, NC. The Manufacturing Manager in this location will manage our leading commercial water heater and boiler manufacturing operation of nearly 550 employees. Our McBee, SC facility has achieved continued growth from a productivity, revenue and profitability perspective.
The Manufacturing Manager is responsible for managing and directing all manufacturing and related activities of the manufacturing department including: staffing, productivity, quality, operating budgets, safety, and employee development. The incumbent will be responsible for optimizing performance and reaching production goals according to company policies and procedures.
Works closely with Plant Manager and senior leadership to create a unified effort of manufacturing quality products in a safe and efficient manner, on time to customers.
Directly plans/coordinates production, production rates and capacity plans, processing methods and times, all of which help determine inventory levels, staffing levels, procedures, and job duty
Determines what key indicators to track and how often and puts action plans in place when metrics are below target.
Plans budgets, approves expenditures for supplies, materials, and employees, and ensures they are all used to meet production targets.
Defines and recommends key capital projects with sufficient benefits to return on investment targets.
Develops and promotes a plant culture related to lean principles.
Coordinates efforts among manufacturing to bring new products into production and is responsible for the production portion of a new product launch.
Promotes and emphasizes continuous improvement in product quality, productivity, employee safety, teamwork, and machine reliability and employee training/development.
Maintains and controls all expense budgets and capital cash flows.
Develop capital planes supporting company objectives concerning cost reduction, process improvement, machine replacement, quality improvement and capacity increases.
Leads group meetings and presentations of key management strategy, decisions, policy changes, and others as needed.
Responsible for 6 salary direct reports, 5 salary indirect reports and 300 hourly indirect reports
Perform other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Business Management. Masters Degree (MBA) strongly preferred
A minimum of 10 years of progressive Manufacturing Management/Leadership experience
Must have strong Lean Manufacturing experience- lean principles and metrics
Ability to prepare and interpret various types of production tracking, data, and reports
Understanding of reactive, preventative, and predictive maintenance
Knowledge and understanding of systems and metrics relating to safety and quality
Experience with materials planning, lead times, tracking, and inventory accounting
Metal Fabrication, Welding or similar manufacturing experience is preferred
High mix, low volume manufacturing experience is preferred
SAP, Project Management and budgeting experience is preferred.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to communicate with all levels of employees
Strong computer literacy, specifically MS Office
