Role Description:

Be a part of the ClinicalCare Team-- as a Medical Assistant, you will engage our patients to develop lifelong well-being and health. CAC-FMC is seeking a Medical Assistant to make a difference in people’s lives that provides prescribed medical treatment and personal care services to ill, injured, convalescent, and disabled persons under direction of a physician or nurse in Medical Centers. 

 

Role Assignment:

Assist with daily patient flow in areas as needed.

Gives direct patient care and performs indirect patient care activities, under the direction of a physician or nurse.

Assists physician with examination as required and assists other staff members in providing patient care.

Communicates observations of patient's status to nurse-in-charge.

Organize follow-up care and instructions for patients with test results.

Adheres to Nursing Department policies and procedures.

Assist with daily patient flow in clinic area as needed.

Patient teaching and education.

Knowledgeable in all aspects of the EMR system, including arriving patients and scheduling.

Handles prescription refills, where applicable','!*!Role Essentials:

High school diploma or equivalent

Bi-lingual English/Spanish (Fluent Levels in Both)-Must be able to speak, read and write in both languages without limitations or assistance. 

This role is considered patient facing and is part of Humana’s Tuberculosis (TB) screening program. If selected for this role, you will be required to be screened for TB and ACHA Level 2 background check is required for your role.

Medical Assistant Certificate as a Certified Medical Assistant/CMA or as a Registered Medical Assistant/RMA, currently or will complete Humana approved certification process within one year from the hire date. (**Please note-some CMA and RMA programs may still require completion of Humana approved program**) ......or 

At least 1 year of professional experience as a Medical Assistant in 'back-office' direct patient care with the ability to complete a Humana approved certification within one year from hire date

Experience in a fast pace/high volume environment

Experience with MS Outlook

Basic Computer knowledge

CPR certification

Must be a team player with excellent communication skills

  Personal and Team Skills

Meets established expectations, takes initiative, and is accountable for results

Strong organization and time management skills and able to prioritize and multi-task

Can problem-solve and independently make compliant decisions appropriate to the role

Provide guidance and support to medical or clerical staff as needed

Attends all required meetings, in-services and other events

Perform other duties as assigned or directed to ensure the smooth operation of the department, clinic and organization.

ROLE DESIRABLES

Experience with Electronic Medical Records

Hands-on professional Phlebotomy experience

Experience with HEDIS

Active Medical Assistant Certification or Registration from the following:  American Association of Medical Assistant (AAMA),  National Healthcareer Association, American Registry of Medical Assistants, National Association for Health Professionals, and/or  American Medical Technologist

You should anticipate this interview to take about 15 to 30 minutes. Your recorded interview will be reviewed and you will subsequently be informed if you will be moving forward to next round of interviews. 

Testing for role

Any Humana associate who speaks with a member in a language other than English must take a language proficiency assessment, provided by an outside vendor, to ensure competency. Applicants will be required to take the Interagency Language Rating (ILR) test as provided by the Federal Government.
