Network Security Analysts are responsible for analyzing all data traversing the network including IP voice and data, with key focus on supporting the firewalls. Successful candidate will have prior knowledge and hands on experience in network security, supporting next generation firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPN, and vulnerability management. Reports to the Supervisor of Information Security
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Installs, tests, troubleshoots, and maintains telecommunications-based hardware and software products
Configures and maintains Cisco and Palo Alto devices
Works with the business and management to analyze current and emerging security risks and recommends security solutions and changes.
Routinely checks various log sources and network monitoring tools for indicators of a security incident, events and alerts.
Develops automated scripts and tools to handle and track vulnerability remediation efforts.
Performs network and system security testing to proactively identify security vulnerabilities and recommend / implement mitigation and remediation plans.
Conduct routine assessments for rogue or unauthorized wireless access points / devices.
Monitors industry sources for emerging security risks, defenses, and best practices.
Understands and interprets internal and external system security requirements (e.g., network segmentation) and plans the implementation and support.
Provides after hours and/or on-call support for network, security, and associated platforms.
Develops and maintains systems documentation (including network architecture diagrams)
Problems resolution, including ownership through resolution
Coordinates hardware and software updates from vendors
Assists other Systems Administrators and Service Desk staff as required
Light to moderate travel
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
Systems configuration and deployment
Systems design and specifications (e.g., architecture best practices)
Problem management and resolution
Use of appropriate tools/utilities
Knowledge of T-1, T-3, PRI, Frame, AVPN, and MPLS
Wireless technologies – Cisco, Proxim, Motorola
Intrusion Detection and Threat Vulnerability management
Knowledge of network trouble shooting and management tools
Written and oral communications
After-hour and weekend availability
Work without supervision
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree required
Training in Windows operating systems and TCP/IP communications.
Minimum CCNA preferred.
Minimum five (5) years technical experience. Exposure to following:
Cisco Switches, Gigamon Devices, Routers and Firewalls (including 2nd generation tools)
Palo Alto firewalls (including 2nd generation tools)
TCP/IP communications and troubleshooting
VPN and Dial-up networking
Routing Protocols: BGP, EIGRP, OSPF
Cisco ACS and Sourcefire
Palo Alto Networks Wildfire
Solar Winds Orion Network Performance Monitor
Cisco Call Manager 8.x
Cisco Unity 8.x
Cisco Contact Center/UCCX
DNS, DHCP, WINS, and Active Directory
