Packaging Development Engineer, you will be responsible for the concept

design, investigation, development, testing, and commercialization of new or

existing packaging solutions at Keurig Green Mountain. You will develop

packaging systems to support New Product Development and the associated

Intellectual Property. 


What you will do:

Work in a

cross-functional environment to gather new packaging requirements.Develop and refine

specifications for secondary, tertiary, and appliance packaging.Manage multiple external

resources such as contractors, vendors, and contract manufacturers.Execute legal contracts

with the help of our legal department on specific projects.Collaborate with

Marketing staff and other engineering functions on new packaging initiatives,

package design/innovation, and concept development.Lead, develop, and

present packaging concepts aligned with these requirements.Create prototypes and

renderings to support concept development.Coordinate and review

consumer studies for concept refinement and validation.Research and lead

productivity initiatives.Research, validate, and lead

execution of new materials and/or finishes for packages.Develop and lead ISTA

lab distribution testing to validate packaging systems.Design and perform statistical

experiments.Determine quality

requirements and support adherence to specifications by suppliers.Provide the procurement

and supplier quality departments with advanced-level technical support,

including vendor selection, capabilities assessment, audits, cost savings

initiatives and material qualifications.Conduct

lab/pilot/scale-up tests, factory acceptance testing, process qualification,

and commercialization.Work with manufacturing

to scale-up and validate new packages.Partner closely with

other Technology functions including appliance, pod, product, and process

development.Follow all Keurig Green Mountain policies and procedures.','!*!What you must


Bachelor Degree in Packaging Technology or Engineering required.Experience with advanced

development and testing of paperboard, corrugate, molded fibers, foams, and

plastic packaging materials.Experience in Design to

Value (DTV).Experience with CAD packaging

software (SolidWorks, ArtiosCAD, Tops, CAPE).Experience with

producing technical documents (specifications, die lines, structural drawings).Experience with

performing ISTA distribution testing for appliance and/or electronicsExperience managing program

level projects with outside vendors and/or contract manufacturers.Excellent project

management skills.Experience with MRP and

PLM systems (SAP and Teamcenter) a plus.Excellent oral and

written communication/presentation skills.Excellent computer

skills using Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, MS Project.Knowledge/understanding

of manufacturing packaging equipment;Experience working with

packaging suppliers.Understanding and

experience with CQV processes.A demonstrated

understanding and ability to use statistical methods (DOEs, Root Cause

Analysis).Lean six-sigma

certification preferred.Ability to work and lead

in a team environment.Self-motivated,

autonomous, and organized individual.Capacity to mentor less

experienced or co-op employees.Financial and business

acumen (ROI, NPV).Strong analytical and

problem solving ability.Ability to multi-task,

prioritize, and manage multiple projects.Experience in scaling up

from bench top or pilot plant environments to a full factory setting.Ability to uphold safety

standards and follow manufacturing best practices.Ability

to travel up to 25%.
