Lead the programmatic emergency plan requirements for the Nuclear Department and the periodic review of nuclear emergency plans.
Provides technical leadership for other EP coordinators; provides leadership for process quality improvement initiatives. Functions as project leader on a variety of largescale emergency planning projectsoften directing other staff and/or contractors in design and implementation, responsible for major projects and programs.
Applies sound and diversified knowledge of emergency planning principles and practices in broad areas of assignments and related fields. Makes decisions independently on emergency planning problems and methods; applies advanced technical expertise to projects to develop and refine new approaches to emergency planning programs.
Participates in state, county, federal, industry and peer meetings and workshops. Interface with state/county emergency management officials and federal regulatory agencies on EP matters.
Represents the fleet as an industry expert in various industry forums. Actively participates and leads industry or professional society work groups. Provides EP training input and development as a subject matter expert.
Bachelor degree in a science, technical or business related field (relevant to emergency management, nuclear generation or engineering) required.
8 years of relevant commercial nuclear power plant experience with a minimum of 3 years of experience in the Senior EP coordinator role or equivalent role required. (Relevant experience preferred is defined as employment in Radiation Protection, Chemistry, Operations, or Emergency Preparedness).
Recognized nuclear industry emergency preparedness expertise required.
Demonstrated by one or more; Active participation and leadership in industry or professional society work groups; Published in professional society or industry publications; Presentations to industry and professional society working groups; or Industry or professional society awards and recognition for achievement.
Demonstrated expertise, responsibility and accountability for actions and decisions required.
Evidenced by one or more of the following; establish policy for emergency planning programs and procedures; establish protocol when interacting with regulatory and oversight organizations; creativity and problem solving without precedent resulting in improved safety, reliability, or economics.
Must live within 60 minutes to ensure proper implementation of Emergency Response plan.
A condition of employment will be successfully obtaining and maintaining General Security Clearance and a Nuclear Security Clearance for unescorted access to Xcel Energy nuclear plants including successful completion of nuclear General Access Training (GAT) and the nuclear security screening process (typically consists of an alcohol/drug screen, a criminal history check, a psychological assessment, initial credit and background investigation and periodic credit & criminal history checks).
This position requires continuity in your new role for 24 months. During that time, you will not be eligible to apply for or request to be moved to any other job at the Company until the continuity timeframe has been met, unless otherwise approved by senior leadership.
