Safety & Environmental Manager MISSION / SUMMARY: The Safety& Environmental Manager will provide world class expertise to fully support the plant's safety objectives through demonstrated leadership. This position is a member of the plant leadership team directly responsible for managing the safety systems ensuring the health and welfare of all employees, vendors, contractors, visitors, etc., JOB FUNCTION: Job functions include, but are not limited to the following.
Accountable for setting direction and deploying safety and health resources
Manages Environmental program including but not limited to compliance, waste documentation, EPA Air Permit Reporting, document control, Annual Form R & Tier II EPA reports.
Develops plans and delivers results in a fast changing business and regulatory environment by participating in Plant Divisional safety initiatives that drive safety process improvements
Provides input to plant and departmental strategy
Coordinates and drives the Plant Safety Committee reviews. Participate, provide guidance and support for area safety team meetings
Manages the safety direction for all persons on company premise
Contributes directly to Plant priorities and planning
Coordinates the daily activities of safety, health in support of the operations team
Establishes methodologies for measuring the effectiveness of plant compliance with OSHA, state and other federal laws
Provides solutions to complex safety, health and security issues serving as the safety leader i.e. best practice/quality safety and health resource, technical expert, train/mentors managers, supervisors and staff
Conducts studies and investigations to ensure compliance with government safety and health laws, standards and regulations, and industrial hygiene. Established a rapport with local fire, police, and sheriff departments
Investigates accidents and promotes safety-conscious work performance and training programs with defined safety performance measures including A3 and other data mining processes for hazard analysis and corrective actions on Plant incidents driving for root cause analysis
Manages Worker's Compensation and attends all Worker's Compensation hearings
Designs, develops, implements and oversees the organization's health, safety and security programs and procedures including First Responders, OSHA Audiometric and Respirator fit testing, etc.
Safeguards employees by ensuring all facility is in compliance with regulations. Works closely with community and government resources as required

Manages the safety audits of buildings, facilities, tools and equipment
Determines safety training requirements and provides employees with safety training applicable to their work processes. Establishes training schedule for Focus and/or other behavioral based training and tracking improvement actions.
Develops recommendations and follow-up to prevent accident recurrence
Maintains comprehensive knowledge of government safety regulations
REQUIREMENTS: 3-5 years of progressive Safety & Health leadership experience in manufacturing, to include Process Safety Management.
Possesses broad technical expertise, business and industry knowledge, and process and people leadership capabilities.
Bachelor's Degree in a safety or related field is required
