The Cardiovascular & Specialty Solutions (CSS) Group, part of the Medical Devices sector within Johnson & Johnson, is recruiting for a Senior Engineer located in Irvine, CA. The CSS Group consists of six diverse businesses including Acclarent, Advanced Sterilization Products (ASP), Biosense Webster (BWI), CNV, Mentor, and Sterilmed. The CSS Group serves a diverse base of customers in Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT), Infection Prevention, Electrophysiology (EP), Neurovascular and Neurosurgery, Surgical and Non-Surgical Aesthetics, and Reprocessing. Description The Senior Engineer position will be responsible for electrical/electronic design and system integration on assigned projects. This will include project that span from front end concept innovation and concept development to full product development execution through to product commercialization. Project can also include support and design changes to existing products. The position involves design of engineering solutions as part of a broader project team. In addition to electrical design, this role will include responsibility for broader aspects of the system design of electro-mechanical and fluidic systems including requirements development, system integration and verification and validation testing. The position will independently perform most assignments with instructions as to the general results expected, receive technical guidance on unusual or complex problems and supervisory approval on proposed plans for projects and plans, schedule, conduct, and coordinate detailed phases of engineering work in part of a major project or in a total project of moderate scope. The Senior Engineer will perform work that involves conventional engineering practice but may include a variety of complex aspects such as conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of conventional materials and difficult requirement's coordination. Work requires broad knowledge of electrical and system design and may technically supervise or coordinate the work of Engineers and Technicians and others who assist in specific assignments. The Senior Engineer may be tasked to lead the resolution of cross-functional and platform issues and tradeoffs in accordance with system objectives as well as manage the integration of subsystems. The Senior Engineer practices company safety, quality policies and procedures, actively requires conformance, is responsible for ensuring personal and company compliance with all Federal, State, local and company regulations, policies and procedures for Health, Safety and Environmental compliance and responsible for performing design reviews and pre-validation assessments to ensure the safe and environmentally sound start-up of new processes. Qualifications Requirements BS Engineering (electrical preferred) and 5 years of related experience is required. Proficiencies in development of electrical circuits and systems is required. Experience working in a highly-regulated environment is required. Ability to work both independently and in a team focused environment is required. The position is located in Irvine, CA and may require up to 10% domestic and international travel. Preferences Experience in working in a highly-regulated environment (medical device industry preferred). Advanced engineering degree is preferred. Experience in with systems that include embedded software and controls is preferred. Experience with electromechanical systems is preferred. Working knowledge of engineering and project management tools is preferred. Experience in quality engineering activities such as design control and risk management is preferred.
