Job Description / Information
Manager for multiple related product development or business process improvement projects. Devotes a significant portion of time to managerial, leadership and staff (inclusive of other managers as applicable) development responsibilities. Responsibilities include overseeing the scoping and chartering of projects with respect to schedules, budgets, and resource allocations, within Stryker quality system processes, and within and across franchises, functions, and businesses.
Manages key new product development and business process improvement projects and programs critical to future business growth through self and staff.
Manages those projects and programs through staff with respect to: integration management, scope management, time management, cost management, quality management, human resource management, communications management, risk management, and procurement management.
Creates and champions functional improvement efforts.
Drives functional excellence initiatives; ensures staff delivers high quality functional, business, and quality deliverables; and ensures project / program management excellence for product development and business processes.
Drives technical or business projects and programs of major magnitude and scope.
Follows, and can provide leadership in, developing design control, quality system, and/or business process requirements.
Establishes internal contacts across Stryker and external contacts with industry specialists to benchmark leading process and technology. For self and staff, ensures sharing of initiatives/ideas and accomplishments cross-functionally.
Provides significant guidance and approval regarding project management strategies and approaches.
Provides guidance and training to staff, assists subordinates in attaining career goals, motivates individuals to achieve results, and recruits and maintains a high quality staff.
Develops and manages department budgets. Determines appropriate staff levels, schedules and resources. Drives and evaluates project and department progress, cross-functional development plans, and results.
Facilitates cross-functional relationships of self and staff. Coordinates cross-functionally to look for opportunities for staff to learn about new initiatives or volunteer on new projects.
Drives the development of department tools and methodologies.
Provides an overview of the function and role of his/her group, along with project and program management skill sets, to other groups and/or divisions.
Works cross-functionally in identifying and resolving project issues.
Establishes and supports a work environment of continuous improvement that supports Quality Policy, Quality System and the appropriate regulations for the area they support.
Ensures all employees are trained to do their work and their training is documented.
Required: Bachelor’s degree
Preferred: Master’s degree, MBA degree, PMP certified
At least 5-7 years cross-functional medical device design & development experience
At least 3-5 years people management experience
