Technical Business Development Consultant

Our client is a materials technology company. Their mission is the creation and delivery of disruptive technologies that drive lasting change in our chosen markets, creating new and unique opportunities for customers, partners, suppliers, employees and investors.

They are seeking a dedicated Technical Business Development Consultant with a “can do” attitude. In this dynamic position, your primary objective will be to plan and successfully deliver initial sales and sustainable growth of a new specialty pigment product technology to new customers. You will reside within PicOnyx, Inc. and will be focused on delivering sales results to new customers. You will interface with Melior innovations’ R&D team to provide customer input and feedback. This person will interact at multiple levels and across disciplines within the prospective customer’s organization (R&D, manufacturing, purchasing, and management).


Accountable for driving sales of M-Tone through direct, in-the -field customer prospecting, application identification and qualification and closure

Accurate and complete identification of FFU’s at the customer, account planning, and execution against the sales plan and budget

Accountable for basic field technical service of his/her accounts on a daily basis.

Account prospecting, planning and plan execution

Detailed reporting of customer performance expectations to PicOnyx and Melior technical development colleagues

Understand, communicate and drive plans to drive adoption at targeted accounts (application FFU’s, economics, value proposition, etc.)

Maintain current and relevant industry relationships which can be exploited to accelerate the sales cycle at targeted accounts

Provide the voice of the product development teams

Identify new opportunities for placement of M-Tone in the market

Provide ongoing competitive intelligence to PicOnyx team

Collaborate with Technical And Marketing team in promotional activities (industry association papers, etc.)


Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry and Material Science is preferred

5 years technical sales in relevant industry

Strong knowledge and track record in technical sales in an allied field - PPICA Prefer experience with direct involvement in pigments or colorant segments

Direct experience in new product (materials) introduction initiatives and pigments and/or coating sales/development

Proven ability to understand fundamental chemistry and behavior of pigment and polymer interaction and application

Ability to exhibit and foster team behavior, interact with internal teams and external customers

Can work independently with minimal supervision

Strong interpersonal skills and ability to direct work internally across disciplines and levels of organizations

Proactive and is driven to deliver against budgets

Strong communications skills;

Clear and concise record keeping
