The Telecom Technician will have the responsibility to install, repair and maintain Voice & Data systems as they relate to Call Center and branch office applications. Has the ability to troubleshoot IP telephony and contact center problems with little or no supervision. Provides technical support and training to all telephony users. Familiar with standard concepts, practices and procedures within the Telecommunications field.Duties:Field trouble tickets and phone calls from the HelpdeskDiagnose and solve telecommunications problems specifically surrounding the Avaya Platform and the Avaya AdjunctsImplement changes and maintain the operation and repair of all related equipmentSet up user accounts and maintain databasesConsult with End Users concerning their needs and evaluate their requests or requirementsResponsible for Daily, Weekly, Monthly, Bi-monthly and Annual Preventive Maintenance of equipmentResponsible for System Backups where applicableTrain users in use of equipment and/or softwareEscalate problems to appropriate I.T. teams based on established guidelines and proceduresPrepare technical reports or related documentationStudy technical manuals to keep up with changes in technologyObtain quotes from vendors for equipment repair or purchaseFollow all applicable security procedures as they relate to equipment or applicationsVisit workplaces or conduct surveys to determine present and future user needsWork with engineers, analysts, programmers, technicians and managers in the design, testing and evaluations of systemsComply with all standards, Service Level Agreements and Change Management policies as established by IT ManagementUse project management techniques for assigned projects,identifier:1714066,qualifications:Technical certificate/diploma in Telecommunications and minimum 2 years related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience2 Years Call Center Experience Very Good understanding of the Avaya Voice Platforms and Avaya’s Advanced ApplicationsStrong knowledge of PBX, VoiceMail, CMS, Dialer & Multichannel, IVR and Telco DS1/DS3 & Trunking Experience with QoS protocols, jitter, diagnosing or tuning Quality of Service and bandwidth analysisKnowledge of CTI, LAN/WAN communications, switches and routers Strong knowledge of Telephony Communications via Analog and Digital transmissions Experience with configuration and support experience in a complex multi-layered network environmentMust have tenured experience working with Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and VisioExcellent customer service skills including reporting, organization, written and oral communication and task prioritizationAbility to work in team environment but can self-direct when necessaryExperience working under tight deadlines and high pressure environmentsExcellent troubleshooting and analytical skillsOn-call after hours Able to lift 40 pounds from floor to waist
