San Antonio office of our client seeks an associate immigration attorney with at least 1 year of immigration law experience. The candidate will represent individuals and/or families in immigration matters. Legal representation may be before the Immigration Court (EOIR), the Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA), the Administrative Appeals Office, in custody matters before Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), the Asylum Office, State and federal courts, Department of State, agencies within the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), and in credible/reasonable fear interviews and applications for affirmative relief before United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). Represent non-detained and detained individuals in proceedings before the Immigration Courts, Board of Immigration Appeals, USCIS, and other agencies. Manage a diverse caseload effectively, adhering to strict deadlines. Explain immigration concepts and present strategic solutions. Visit and conduct an intake with detained individuals at centers (as needed). Prepare diverse immigration applications/filings, including removal defense and family-based immigration petitions. Review immigration applications/packets and make any necessary adjustments. Present to and work with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community-based organizations on changes in immigration law. Meet with prospective clients for immigration consultations and determine strategy. Develop strategy and prepare clients/witnesses for court/USCIS testimony. Supervise and provide guidance and leadership to support staff. Prepare and submit legal briefs for a variety of immigration cases. Experience with family-based petitions, removal litigation (non-detained and detained), refugee and asylum, and affirmative USCIS filings is required. Must have Bar admission, preferably in Texas. Bilingual Spanish skills are required.
