State and Local Tax Staff

The candidate will assist with the management of clients and their needs. Assist with state and local tax consulting projects related to tax planning, due diligence, nexus and taxability studies, apportionment and revenue sourcing, voluntary disclosures, audit defense, credits and incentives, and various other multistate projects. Perform research and technical analysis of multistate income/franchise, sales, use, gross receipts and other state or local tax issues. Analyze taxpayer data and be able to identify opportunities for prospects and clients. Keep up to date on state and local tax law changes. Participate in business development activities as needed. Develop internal relationships within the firm and help grow external branding. Bachelor's degree is required preferably with an emphasis in accounting. Advanced degree such as a Master's of Tax or J.D. and/or LL.M. degree is a plus. CPA or licensed attorney is preferred. If not a CPA or licensed attorney, must meet educational requirements to obtain CPA or attorney license in the state of employment upon hire. Must have at least 1 year of related tax experience. Public accounting experience is preferred. Previous experience performing tax research and providing technical advice on state and local tax issues is desired. Experience in state and local government revenue departments is a plus. Experience with state tax planning, tax research, and tax analysis is needed. Should be proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
