Associate Counsel II

Duties: Provides legal counsel in various legal disciplines including Litigation and Workers’ Compensation. Within these disciplines, duties include advice and counsel to various departments within the Authority. Areas of expertise should include litigation and dispute resolution involving matters like personal injury, workers’ compensation, employment and contracts. May require serving on committees and review panels. Performing other duties of a similar nature may be required. Provides legal counsel to the Authority focusing primarily on labor and employment law, administrative law, contracts and real estate matters. Within these disciplines, duties include providing legal support, as well as advice and counsel to various departments within the Authority. Represents the Authority’s interests in various administrative hearings, and before state and federal administrative agencies. Some litigation work may be required. Prepares legal reports and memoranda, and renders legal opinions as requested. Performing other duties of a similar nature may be required. Areas of expertise should include: Labor and employment law, labor arbitration, personnel and human resources; Administrative law; rendering legal opinions on public sector legal issues, including, statutory compliance with federal, state and local laws; Contracting, including all matters at each phase of the procurement process from pre-solicitation through award, administration, termination, and contract closeout and general public construction contracting; Real property transactions, including acquisition, management and real estate claims; Legal assistance in project development, collaboration with other public entities, transit-oriented development, and engineering services. May require working under limited direction with extensive latitude, using initiative and independent judgment.
