Product & Commercial Counsel
The candidate will have primary responsibility for a variety of commercial, marketing, and tech matters. Will play an important role in shaping policies in support of strategic business initiatives and objectives as we continue to scale our Legal Department. Duties : Draft, review, and negotiate a wide variety of complex commercial agreements, including marketing, online advertising, mar-tech, SAAS, strategic partnerships, and other service level agreements. Collaborate with the business teams to ensure marketing claim substantiation and protocol. Draft clear, concise, and consistent marketing disclosures to ensure compliance and optimal customer experience. Advise on the guidelines related to advertising claim substantiation. Support the business with ongoing initiatives including process improvement, template development, and training. Identify potential legal risks in marketing, data privacy, and IP matters, manage and advise on potentially contentious matters. Learn quickly, identify and resolve issues, drive projects and earn the confidence of and cooperation of business partners. Must have Juris Doctor degree and admitted to practice in at least one U.S. jurisdiction required, preferably New York. Should have 5+ years combined experience in law firm and in-house legal department, preferably in the technology industry, with relevant transactional and product counseling experience (marketing experience preferred). Should have substantial experience reviewing advertising copy, television and promotional materials for legal and compliance issues. Must have experience on technology licensing, data protection, patents, mobile and cloud computing.Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP) (strongly preferred, not required).Experience such as engineering, product management, or marketing, strongly preferred.
