Head of Enterprise Platforms and Capabilities

Utilizes strategic mind-set to lead application development and delivery across the Bank, while galvanizing a transition to new and forward-leaning methodologies for development, e.g., adoption of Agile, more process-based alignment, etc.  Collaborates with the new Strategy, Planning, & Innovation (SP&I) and Enterprise Architecture (EA) functions under a re-imagined operating model; as the former determines the ‘what’ (i.e., a prioritized set of projects), Enterprise Platforms and Capabilities owns accountability for the ‘how’ of building solutions in line with business capability requirements, new Bank-wide standards, and reference architectures.

Reports to: Chief Information Officer

Key Relationships: Strategy, Planning, & Innovation; Enterprise Architecture; Chief Data Officer

Roles and Responsibilities:

Application Development and Maintenance:

Effectively manage large teams of application developers, driving not only quality output but a positive environment for the team, retention of top talent, etc.

Lead the organization in transitioning to new ways of developing applications, e.g., adoption of Agile, more process-based alignment, greater focus on build vs. buy, etc.

Work closely with SP&I and EA to determine the ‘how’ of executing upon prioritized projects assigned to Enterprise Solutions under a new and re-imagined operating model

Oversee a large portfolio of strategic ‘change the bank’ type projects

Testing and QA

Manage testing environments to ensure high quality software and operational readiness, especially under the new operating model (i.e., Agile, rapid deployment, ongoing testing)

Project Management

Lead business/capability-aligned product and platform delivery teams to ensure timely and high-quality delivery of technology services to the Bank

Drive increasing adoption of Agile methods (where appropriate)

Data

Ensure timely and quality provisioning of tooling for data

Works closely with the CDO to ensure innovative and effective approaches to data-related development that fall within the Bank-wide data governance and strategy','!*!

Experience and Technical Knowledge:

Demonstrated ability to think strategically and act as a visionary to guide the direction of a newly created organization with an evolving way of working

Successful track record of leading a large (250 people) organization; experience leading a merger of sizeable, pre-existing organizations (preferred)

Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain relationships across the System and the Bank, balance multiple stakeholder interests, and build coalitions 

Strong working knowledge of business-specific processes/capabilities and technology needs

Expert knowledge of waterfall and Agile development methodologies, with extensive experience implementing applications across different technical environments

In-depth experience leveraging new technologies (e.g., AI and ML) for banking applications, e.g., payment and settlement systems, capital markets platforms, etc.

Track record of successful leadership to drive results and proactively manage change in a complex and dynamic organizational, technological and operating environment

Strong collaboration skills, a focus on positive intent and an interest in ensuring strong relationships with an ability to partner effectively with others in the pursuit of common goals

Emotional intelligence, including the ability to build trust in a variety of relationships through candor, reliability and authenticity as well as the capacity to embrace and draw from diversity and inclusion to improve the quality of outcomes

Interest and strong ability in the sustainable and ongoing development of people, technology and other elements essential to achieving results over the long term 

Strong business acumen with a proven ability to evaluate the costs, risks and benefits associated with alternative actions before making decisions

Intellectually curious and nimble, with the demonstrated ability to learn, synthesize and apply a range of information and experience quickly in new situations and setting

Outstanding people manager, with inspirational leadership skills. Proven ability to positively coach, lead and develop others to achieve their professional best

Excellent change management skills, including advocating, anticipating and orchestrating change. Creates a team culture that enables staff to achieve results in a changing environment

Highest levels of personal and professional integrity at all times

The ability to obtain and maintain U.S. Security Clearance, which requires U.S. Citizenship
