Senior Manager - Legal Support Services
Duties: Responsible for setting objectives, delivering specific projects, monitoring performance and completing Firmwide initiatives. Work with Practice Support Team Managers (PSTMs) and Administrative Resource Team Manager (ASTM) to maintain support teams that are staffed appropriately and provide an acceptable level of performance. Responsible for monitoring staffing and headcount/ratios, in partnership with and adhering to Legal Support team design to meet consistent work requirements Firmwide. Advise PSTMs/ARTM of key modifications in employment regulations that affect day-to-day supervision of the staff. Manage and ensure adherence to policies and procedures related to recruiting, interviewing, hiring, onboarding, counseling and discharging staff. Manage the continued development and implementation of Legal Support Teams. Lead Quarterly PST Lead Meetings and coordinate completion of to-dos after meetings. Create and present PST Support presentations as needed. Oversee the performance management of PSTMs and ARTM based on establishing clear expectations, ensuring understanding of these expectations, and providing regular feedback on performance against these expectations. Initiate performance improvement process and ongoing opportunities for development when required. Provide leadership and counsel regarding employee relations and performance issues, and assist PSTMs and ARTM in developing improvement plans for correcting areas of underperformance. Supervise ARTM and Resource Center staff as directed. Ensure PSTMs and ARTM are consistent in recruiting and talent acquisition processes, leveraging internal and external resources, to facilitate quality hires in a timely manner. Meet regularly with PSTMs and ARTMs via telephone, Teams, video conference, and in person when required, to communicate strategies, goals and objectives and to discuss the role of each in achieving their goals. Ensure the managers are fulfilling their job responsibilities, provide training and ongoing evaluation and critique as required. Ensure the proper discharge of PSTS’ and ARTAs supporting lawyers and paralegals to ensure that the action is handled under Firm guidelines and employment regulations.
