Job Title: Property Casualty Attorney

Job Overview:
A Birmingham-based law firm is seeking an experienced litigation attorney to support its expanding property and casualty caseload. This role offers a high degree of autonomy, remote work flexibility, and the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to a team-focused legal environment. Ideal candidates will bring significant civil litigation experience, strong courtroom presence, and a desire to work within a progressive, tech-enabled legal practice.

Duties:

• Handle first-party property and casualty matters, including complex litigation

• Represent clients in both state and federal courts

• Draft legal pleadings, motions, and briefs with minimal supervision

• Conduct and defend depositions

• Manage case discovery and litigation strategy

• Oversee legal staff and provide mentorship where applicable

• Prepare matters for trial and execute litigation plans

• Participate in firm-wide innovation efforts to improve legal services

Requirements:

• Minimum of 3 years of litigation experience in property casualty, civil, or first-party insurance claims

• Active license to practice law in Iowa

• Background managing caseloads independently through trial preparation

• Experience overseeing legal support staff is a plus

• Proficiency with litigation technology and remote work platforms

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school

Certifications:

• Admission to the Iowa State Bar (mandatory)

• Admission to additional State Bars is advantageous.

Job Location:

• Birmingham, AL (90% remote / 10% on-site travel as needed)
