Job SummaryThe Nurse Practitioner (NP) works collaboratively with members of the healthcare team to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his/her assigned unit. The practice of the NP emphasizes health promotion and maintenance, disease prevention and the diagnosis and management of acute and chronic diseases. The position is associated with a significant level of autonomy; therefore, the individual must be highly motivated and able to work independently. As an advanced practice nurse (APN) demonstrates leadership as a mentor, educator, researcher and provider. The APN adheres to and functions within the scope of practice defined by the Arizona Board of Nursing and HonorHealth privileges. HonorHealth Nursing practices theory based nursing that is evidenced based utilizing a Shared Governance model for decision-making. Practice focuses on performance standards that act in accordance with HonorHealth initiatives.
As a provider, the NP performs comprehensive health histories, perform or request special diagnostic and laboratory tests, interpret test results, perform appropriate physical assessments and develop comprehensive psychiatric treatment plans
Provide mental health assessments, diagnosis, and treatment plans in identified areas; lifesaving and support measure in emergency situations; provide medication management for patients; and maintain appropriate health records.
Prescribe pharmaceutical therapy consistent with medical evaluation, treatment plan and current standards of practice. Refer clients for more specialized or inpatient interventions as clinical situations dictate.
Participate in a team management approach to patient care/treatment; work with the NOAH team and coordinate services that meet the goals and objective of the NOAH program. Maintain appropriate files; develop and follow through on identified treatment plans. Maintain quality care through participation in peer review, policy development and quality improvement programs.
Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
