Job Description & Qualifications

Job Summary

Responsible forapplying knowledge and expertise in compensation practices to support HR partners, talent management, and business leaders in making compensation decisions.Support the design, review, implementation, and administration of compensation programs. Collect, analyze and maintain data to ensure the organization can attract and retain high quality employees and to ensure appropriate pay based on market trends and data. Support the management of merit and variable pay programs.

Major Tasks, Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities

Researches various sources for information on market pay programs and practices, compares current pay practices and data against market information to determine competitiveness.Explores and analyzes data to provide intelligence on compensation trends.

Conducts analyses of jobs, hourly wages, salaries, and incentives in order to evaluate internal equity, external competitiveness, and legal compliance of the company's pay practices.Works with HR partners and management to evaluate and market price new and revised jobs.

Supports the annual merit and variable pay process to include reporting and related analysis.

Addresses moderately complex compensation questions using knowledge of compensation, human resources, and the company policies.

Prepares salary increase programs and salary structure adjustments.Provides recommendations based on findings and analysis. Provides input on policies and procedures.

Prepares special studies and recommendations on subjects such as incentive compensation, bonus plans, sales compensation and/or equity incentives.

Participates in department and interdepartmental projects. May serve as team lead and provide training to other team members.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Nature and Scope

Identifies key barriers/core problems and applies problem solving skills in order to deal creatively with complex situations. Troubleshoots and resolves complex problems. Makes decisions under conditions of uncertainty, sometimes with incomplete information, that produce effective end results.

Independently performs assignments with instruction limited to results expected. Determines and develops approach to solutions. Receives technical guidance only on unusual or complex problems or issues.

May oversee the completion of projects and assignments, including planning, assigning, monitoring and reviewing progress and accuracy of work, evaluating results, etc. Contributes to employees professional development but does not have hiring or firing authority.

Work Environment

Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.

No travel required.

Education and Experience

Typically requires BS/BA in related discipline. Generally 5-8 years of experience in related field; certification is required in some areas OR MS/MA and generally 3-5 years of experience in related field. Certification is required in some areas.

Preferred Qualifications & Job Specific Details

Preferred Qualifications

3-5 years of experience with compensation programs in a medium to large business.

Experience with compensation/base pay modeling, salary structures, incentive bonus design, benchmarking salaries and jobs to market and market pricing.

Experience with PeopleSoft, CompAnalyst, Visier, Xactly and/or Kronos is preferred.

Certification Compensation Professional (CCP) is preferred.
