Collateral Specialist

Position Summary

The Collateral Specialist is responsible for creating, auditing and shipping collateral files as well as the safekeeping of and secure storage of original documents.

Primary Responsibilities

Stack, scan and image original closed loan files

Upload scanned images into the system of record (Encompass)

Create collateral packages verifying all necessary documents are present

Audit collateral packages confirming signatures are present and loan level data is accurate

Ship collateral packages to the warehouse bank/document custodian; produce precise shipping manifest; maintain shipping records

Update system of record with key information (dates, tracking numbers, notes, etc.)

Monitor reporting for outstanding original closed loan files, follow up with Closing Agent for immediate return of original closed loan files

Assist Collateral Supervisor with research of collateral file exceptions and remediation

Register MERS MINs within 7 days of loan disbursement

Perform related/additional duties as assigned by the Collateral Supervisor and/or department leadership

Maintain responsibility for meeting RoundPoint’s commitment to compliance

Qualifications

Prior collateral experience/knowledge of mortgage documents is a plus

Prior post closing and/or audit experience is a plus

Experience producing reports and tracking movement of documents is a plus

Knowledge of Encompass preferred

Experience communicating with third party vendors and acquiring their full cooperation

Effective PC skills including intermediate Microsoft Office products

Excellent oral, verbal and written communication skills

Strong organization skills and attention to detail are required to perform tasks in a highly efficient manner

Must be a proactive self-starter who thrives in fast-paced environments

Must be dependable and flexible with work schedule (including overtime when needed)

Must be able to multi-task/change focus on a moment’s notice in a business environment with multiple priorities

Ability to work under strict deadlines and to meet/exceed deadlines

Ability to work cohesively and efficiently in a team environment
