SUMMARY

Alaska Industrial Hardware

, a subsidiary of Bering Straits Native Corporation is currently seeking qualified

Accounts Payable Manager

 for its Alaska retail locations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Reviews and approves vouchers of AP staff to ensure accuracy of information

Reviews and approves weekly check runs

Reviews and approves vendor information entered into the accounting system

Completes and files Form 1099 annually with IRS

Reviews and approves reconciliation of vendor invoices to the purchase order and inventory received

Recommends improvements to current processes and creates new processes

Mentors employees by training and coaching

Request verification and process inventory discrepancies

Process vendor miss ships and returns

Reconciliation and maintenance of pertinent general ledger accounts

Preparation of AP related journal entries

Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS - EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION

Required (Minimum) Qualifications

Strong communication and computer skills

Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Windows, Excel

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting

Minimum of 5 years progressively responsible experience in accounts payable

Three years of leadership or supervisory experience

Ability to pass a drug, background, reference, and credit check

Experience with accounting software

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Strong analytical and problem solving skills

Knowledge of U.S. GAAP and DCAA requirements

Knowledge and understanding of the purchasing process and inventory movement

Ability to learn and understand the Company’s Policies and Procedures

Ability to actively listen and provide high quality customer service

Ability to be detail oriented: superior organizational, follow-up and records maintenance skills

Ability to exercise resourcefulness

Preferred

Experience in inventory control

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Job is performed in an office setting with exposure to computer screens and requires extensive use of a computer, keyboard, mouse and multi-line telephone system.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Hire, train, mentor and manage AP staff.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFYING FACTORS

As a condition of employment, you are required to pass a pre-employment drug screening, as well as have acceptable references and background check. Must have reliable transportation to/from work.
