Ethics and Compliance Investigator (Business Conduct)
The candidate primary duty is to investigate reports of unethical activity relating to the workplace; e.g., allegations of company Code of Conduct violations, harassment, retaliation, discrimination, labor mischarging, conflicts of interest, etc. In addition, the Ethics and Compliance Investigator provides compliance advice and implements employee engagement, communication and training initiatives to foster an ethical culture and compliant conduct throughout the organization. This role also supports segment Legal, Ethics and Compliance, HR and other business segment investigations as practical. The investigator reports to both the SIS Ethics and Compliance Manager and segment legal counsel. Conduct investigations of workplace and ethics issues. Develop written investigation reports to support appropriate employment-related disciplinary consequences. Provide sound analysis, solid data, confirmed facts, and insights into root causes. Work with legal counsel in researching applicable local, state, and federal laws potentially impacting cases. Strategically plan each investigation and manage the logistics of travel, work space and appointment scheduling. Provide overall online data intake and data base case management under the direction of the Ethics and Compliance Director. Train, as needed, business support ethics investigators on standard ethics investigation processes and templates to ensure reports are timely, concise, and thorough. Perform work independently on multiple projects simultaneously, and efficiently manage time and resources. Employ excellent active listening skills; interview objectively and without leading the responses while asking open-ended questions; and, demonstrate the ability to ask difficult questions in a non-judgmental manner. Complete thorough and well-documented investigations with personal and professional integrity in finding unbiased facts and maintaining confidentiality to all participants to the fullest extent possible. Should have Bachelor’s degree in Business, Human Resources, or other applicable discipline. Juris Doctor Degree is preferred. Must have 5 years’ experience conducting legal, ethics, and/or human resources investigations.
