Assistant Legal Counsel
The candidate provides support to the consulting staff, legal team and other administrative teams on contractual, collection and a diverse range of other legal matters, and assists in risk management on a firm-wide basis. Contracts: Work independently in drafting, reviewing and commenting on contracts (engagement letters, consulting agreements, data vendor agreements, confidentiality agreements, independent contractor agreements and office/vendor contracts). This work includes interacting with consulting and administrative staff to provide legal guidance, and assisting in contract negotiations with clients and vendors as appropriate. Work on improvement of certain business processes with an eye to increasing efficiency and reducing risk to the firm. Collection and Bankruptcy Issues: Assist in collection and bankruptcy matters. This work includes collaborating with representatives of the finance department in their efforts to collect unpaid invoices, developing plans for collection in individual cases, and following up to ensure payment. General In-House Advice: Provide legal advice to consulting and administrative staff on a diverse range of legal topics. This work may involve legal research, case law analysis and/or docket monitoring. Risk Management: Assist in risk management on a firm-wide basis. JD required. 4+ years of legal experience required. Have 4-10 years of experience. A combination of law firm and in-house experience is preferred. Prior experience in drafting, reviewing and negotiating contracts required. Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. Excellent judgment and ability to tailor advice to circumstances at hand.
