Against that backdrop, we are seeking a talented employee benefits leader for the role of Associate Retirement Benefits Principal. In this role, you will apply forward-looking, innovative thought to strategy, design and delivery of retirement benefits to help position the company as an employer-of-choice in the present and future.
The Associate Retirement Benefits Principal is a Director-equivalent position that utilizes deep understanding of contemporary practice and the associate community to develop, implement, and manage competitive retirement and financial benefit opportunities that contribute to associates' well-being and emphasize perceived value while balancing expense and business requirements, including regulatory compliance. The Principal leverages subject matter knowledge, analytic insights from multiple sources, and experience to anticipate and overcome challenges, develop relationships with key stakeholders, and deliver company-wide retirement benefit solutions that drive associate satisfaction and support organizational goals.
While Louisville, KY would be the ideal location (post-COVID), we are open to considering alternate locations for exceptional candidates.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
Lead and advance retirement benefit strategy and design for the associate community as part of the broader associate benefit and well-being experience
Assure regulatory compliance of retirement plans
Establish an associate retirement education strategy
Partner with leadership and internal collaborators to define and co-create the financial well-being strategy for associates
Utilize knowledge of organizational growth initiatives as key considerations for retirement benefit strategy
Lead the integration or divestiture of qualified and/or non-qualified retirement plans during the M&A process, including due diligence, plan mergers, spin-offs and plan terminations
Partner directly with internal and external collaborators (leadership, legal, administration, recordkeeper, etc) as needed to drive retirement strategy and enhance the financial well-being of Humana associates
Leverage insights from data, benchmarking and trends, to identify areas of opportunity to improve the associate experience and financial well-being
Lead planning and facilitation of Retirement Plans Committee meetings, utilizing fiduciary best practices
Key Candidate Qualifications
In general terms, the ideal candidate will possess extensive (typically 10 years) experience in employee retirement benefits roles of increasing responsibility. This person will have current or recent experience operating the retirement benefits plan for a large firm (i.e., Fortune 500). He/she will also have demonstrable expertise in structuring retirement plan offerings that achieve optimal balance between employee needs, financial considerations, talent strategy, and regulatory compliance. Bachelor's degree is required, but a Master's is preferred.
In addition to the above, the following technical qualifications and personal attributes are also sought:
Experience with M&A integrations/divestitures related to retirement benefits
Experience with supporting a differentiated workforce through multiple retirement plans
Experience with retirement plan terminations, frozen plan management, plan mergers and spin-offs
A thought leader who drives a future-focused agenda to build strategies from present to future state, and who anticipates changes and disruption in order to see opportunities for the future.
Excellent oral/written communications and presentation skills, including the polish, poise, and executive presence that will ensure effective interaction with senior and executive level audiences
Highly collaborative mindset and excellent relationship-building skills, including the ability to engage many diverse stakeholders and SMEs, and influence and win their co-ownership in outcomes
Current or recent experience in a large, highly matrixed company (i.e., Fortune 500), with proven ability to influence leaders and key stakeholders in such an environment
Experience with joint ventures among larger institutions
