Director of Student Community Ethics
The candidate will provide overall supervision/direction for departmental operations, personnel, and programs. Recruit, train, supervise full time professional staff, provide oversight and budget stability of revenue generation and efficient operation of the DSCE, appropriate DSCE funds in a manner consistent with the DSCE mission and strategic plan and university policies and processes, and direct the DSCE efforts related to departmental assessment and strategic planning. Additionally, the Director will position the DSCE to be compliant with and responsive to changing regulations within higher education (Title IX, Clery, etc.). Supervise and oversee the management of the entire DSCE caseload and manage a personal case load of student and organizational conduct cases including formal hearings, mutual agreements, etc. Management of the caseload entails receiving reports, assigning cases, data entry, and case adjudication, etc. Additionally, the director will serve as a Deputy Title IX Coordinator/Investigator for cases involving WCU Students. Assist with the organization and training of all hearing boards as needed. Support timely processing and resolution of allegations and cases consistent with the Code of Student Conduct. Serve on campus and division wide committees, oversee selection and training of hearing bodies and ensure that members of hearing Boards are properly trained. The Director will lead the development and submittal of reports that comply with federal, state, and local law as well as midyear and annual department reports, stay abreast of current national trends and best practices related to students’ rights and responsibilities, maintain records including a database of all student conduct action, and ensure DSCE compliance with FERPA and other pertinent laws related to student conduct. Additionally, the Director will support the revision of the WCU Code of Student Conduct as necessary, and perform other duties as assigned. Develop strategic planning, assessment, outcome development and review of departmental policies and procedures. This also includes reviewing, writing and editing DSCE policies and procedures.
