Job Description and Requirements Synopsys Optical Solutions Group has an opening in the Imaging Engineering Group for a Sr. Optical Engineer Imaging Designer. The Imaging Engineering Group provides optical design services on a consulting basis to a wide variety of external customers in a wide range of applications that include space, medical, defense, and consumer markets. This is an opportunity to join the leading provider of lens design and optimization software that has been delivering cutting edge optical and illumination designs to its customers for over 50 years. This is an individual contributor role as a member of the imaging optical design and engineering team within the Optical Solutions Group at Synopsys. Requirements: * A Masters or Ph.D. degree in Optical Sciences or related technical discipline * Experience in imaging optical design with substantial experience in the areas of material selection, fabrication methods and tolerance allocation * A working knowledge of optical fabrication and testing methods * Experience in the development of MacroPlus sequences to extend the capability of CODE V, both in the short term to satisfy the needs of specific customers, as well as long term, for the extension of the capabilities of CODEV * Experience in designing zoom lenses, heads up displays (HUDs), head mounted displays (HMDs), athermal optical systems, and augmented and virtual reality (AR and VR) optical systems * Experience in working with mechanical CAD software * Strong customer interaction skills * Industrial creativity and demonstrated skills in highly inter-disciplinary problem solving * U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Resident Status is required, to enable the candidate access to ITAR-controlled projects.
