JOB SUMMARY
Provide high level legal support to the Company's managers, business leaders and real estate professionals across several business lines. Responsibilities include drafting, reviewing and negotiating various transactional documents and providing thoughtful legal counsel on a multitude of Company-related business issues.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Draft and/or negotiate commercial brokerage, property management and other real estate services agreements as well as other legal instruments to protect the Company's interests.
Support legal department leaders and senior attorneys with transactional assignments, legal research and other projects as needed.
Provide legal counsel and guidance to managers, business leaders and sales professionals relating to the Company's business activities.
Appropriately identify and analyze legal issues with an understanding of how to appropriately balance risk and the Company's ability to pursue its business interests.
Maintain current knowledge of the law in areas of special interest to the Company.
Investigate claims and complaints by or against the Company, including interviewing relevant parties and preparing reports based on findings.
Develop and conduct legal trainings (either live or via zoom) on various legal topics relevant to risk management.
Respond promptly to the business while delivering efficient and high-quality legal service.
Other duties as may be assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
J.D. from ABA accredited university.
Member of Illinois State Bar (or other regional state bar) in good standing.
Juris Doctorate with a minimum of 5 years of in-house or private practice experience that is directly related to the specified duties and responsibilities.
Experience in drafting and negotiating contracts (with a preference to professionals who have experience with commercial real estate, and specifically brokerage and property management related agreements, and other related documents).
Experience with handling preliminary legal claim analysis and investigation.
Excellent analytical, negotiation, communication, problem-solving and drafting skills.
Strong legal analysis skills with the ability to integrate legal advice and business knowledge, while providing balanced advice regarding risks and benefits.
