eHow is looking for a Photo Editor to work with the eHow editorial team as we endeavor to build the most helpful place on earth. We’re looking for a driven, enthusiastic photo editor with both photo editing and photo production skills who loves the idea of making helpful content for real life. This position is fun, dynamic, and located in Santa Monica, CA. Responsibilities:
Establish and maintain a photo style guide that supports the overall eHow site as well as individual channels
Work closely with the editorial, design, and product teams to ensure the photo strategy supports the needs of the site
Manage requests from the rest of the editorial team to select and prepare powerful images for a wide variety of content requirements (articles, blogs, newsletters, site pages, slideshows, and more) on deadline and within budgetary restraints
Edit, touch up, and enhance images when required
Create original in-house photography as needed by producing custom photo shoots
As part of the editorial team, research and pitch visual-based features
Act as the eHow editorial team’s liaison with Demand Studios photo management team; work with the Demand Studio photo library and other technologies
Collaborate and innovate to improve the quality of the photos published on eHow and address other asset issues which arise when working at scale
Champion new techniques and products for visual storytelling
Take responsibility for ensuring and improving the quality of photos across the site
Work with stock photo agencies on subscriptions and rights management
Requirements:
Three years as an online photo editor (including photo research and photo editing/retouching)
Experience working on photo shoots
In-depth knowledge of Photoshop; experience with entire Adobe Creative Suite
Experience in an editorial environment; understanding of photography’s role in creating engaging content and attracting readers
Genuinely love creating content that helps people manage their real lives; have the intellectual curiosity to help the editorial team explore content that spans the range of everyday experiences
Demonstrated knowledge of photo rights issues
Experience working with stock photo agencies
Experience with multimedia storytelling
Strong editorial judgment and organization
Ability to successfully juggle several projects simultaneously while working in a fast-paced environment
Bachelor’s degree in photography, visual arts, or related field
