Job Details:

Location: Eagle Grove Farm, Hartwell, GA

Schedule: Five days on and three days off, including holidays and weekends

Hours: 7:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Typically these positions generally average 40 hours a week.

Work schedule is subject to change based on production needs and time of year.

Candidates must reside within the recruitment area to include the following counties: Hart, Franklin, Elbert, Madison, Stephens, Oconee, Anderson

Candidates with agricultural or production experience will be considered preferred.

Summary:

Attend to and care for birds in brooding/growing houses; inspect birds to determine quality and progress by performing the below duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Handles pullets and male birds; assists Farm Crew with vaccinations; administer medications to birds as needed (10%)

Feeds and waters birds according to schedules; walks floors daily to inspect water lines, pick up and dispose of mortality, and examine birds for signs of a weak or sick bird that needs to be euthanized in accordance with company policy (25%)

Applies insecticides, herbicides, and rodenticides (10%)

Records feed and mortality daily (25%)

Cleans and disinfects equipment (10%)

Collect weekly Lab samples (10%)

Inspects birds to determine quality and progress by weighing birds weekly by hand; set up of brooding house materials; perform basic maintenance; maintain house conditions to ensure optimal bird health (5%)

Operate a weed eater/blower; maintenance and sanitation of Comfort Station Breakroom, equipment, and vehicles (5%)

Biosecurity/Animal Welfare

The jobsite is a biosecure environment which requires showering, changing clothing and footwear before entering the facility. Appropriate clothing and footwear is provided by the Company. No jewelry may be worn on the jobsite except for medical ID jewelry and body piercings covered by appropriate clothing. Must be willing to sign an agreement to avoid any avian species (chickens, ducks, birds, etc.). Must be willing to sign and abide by the Company Biosecurity and Company Animal Welfare Guidelines.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

Physical: Must use safe lifting techniques. Must push or pull up to 300 pounds and lift 50 pounds to move items such as bags of shavings, feed buckets, bags of mortality, tools, etc. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk majority of shift on multiple floor surfaces (concrete floor, shavings); sit; use hands to handle or feel objects and controls; reach with hands and arms; balance; climbing/ladder usage; talk or hear; stoop/bend up to 300 times per day; drive a vehicle within the farm complex. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision; distance vision; color vision; peripheral vision; depth perception; and the ability to adjust focus.

Environment: Required to work on wet, slippery surfaces and work in hot, dry, extreme dusty, dark, wet, icy, snowy and cold environments. Required to work in extreme hot conditions for two – three weeks at placement of baby chicks.

Personal Protective Equipment Required: Safety goggles, face shield, chemical gloves, waterproof aprons, headlamps, and rubber boots are required. Ear plugs will be used as required. NIOSH approved N95 particulate respirators will be worn as needed.

Chemicals Commonly Used: Disinfectants such as Synergize, Lysol, bleach, insecticides, herbicides, rodenticides, etc.

Safety:

Team Member is expected to follow all applicable safety policies and procedures. These include but are not limited to Hazard Communication, Respiratory Protection, Lock out Tag out, and Personal Protective equipment. Team Member is expected to identify, address, and mitigate safety related risks. During the current Pandemic (2020), all Team Members will be required to wear company issued facial coverings. Training will be provided to each Team Members specific to their job and their facility location in addition to signing an acknowledgment form that they understand these expectations.

It is considered an essential function of each job for a Team Member to wear the company issued facial coverings. If a Team Member has a medical condition or disability that prevents them from wearing the mask, Cobb will engage in an interactive process to determine whether a reasonable accommodation can be provided that addresses the safety concerns associated with the Pandemic and allow the Team Member to perform the essential functions of the job.

Work Requirements:

Qualified applicants must have at least 6 months of work experience with one employer over the past 3 years with no gaps in employment for over 6 months. (Exceptions are made for layoffs, school attendance, or birth of a child.)
