What is the role
The Trading & Supply LATAM Commercial Ops Team manages and coordinate the execution of commercial agreements based on LATAM countries for Trading & Supply (T&S) Commercial Ops, having STUSCO, SHELL Mexico Mobility and T&S Products as ones of the foremost stakeholders. Also, the Team Lead is involved in country entries activities, E2E supply chain execution & advisor and new business implementations.
The LATAM team is configured to execute supply and trading agreements on behalf of Shell entities located on LATAM countries, e.g. SHELL MEXICO S.A. and SHELL BRAZIL ENERGY, leveraging the strength and competitive advantages of Shell Trading US and Shell Oil & Products US.
The T&S business has grown substantially and is well positioned to maintain its leading position keeping a competitive and well-balanced competence team.
Key Accountabilities:
Accountable for safe, compliant, commercial operations end-to-end activities via several mode of transportation (from marine vessels, trucking, to rail), OSP terminals, and pipeline logistics
Currently these are the products that the team handle: Mogas, Distillates, Jet, LPG, NGL, C5 but not limited to these ones in the future
Establish strong relationships with key internal & external stakeholders in support of business performance and robust contractor HSSE and Compliance management will be needed
Accountabilities:
Lead HSSE & Compliance items, lead with example and make sure to meet and involve HSSE ALARP and Compliance standards on any new and current activities
Managing and supporting commercial ops setup (including processes, guidelines, desk manual) and keeping in mind functional relevant areas such as tax, compliance, finance, invoices, legal, controls, etc.
Lead Sales & Operation Process (S&OP) coordination logistic team, via Weekly Huddle meetings and regional calls
Operational Lead for Commercial and Supply business initiatives, driven Business Development initiatives at new or existent Terminals to execution
Strong end to end vision & active participation in the new project implementation calls
Set clear team competences, keeping updating them, On boarding & Training staff
Lead Imports & Exports structure of Fuels for Commercial Ops, including Custom Agents Contract Holder (CH) role
Set strong and/or build new relationships with suppliers and customers
Manage Outside Supply Point (OSP) requirements, when OSP is in place or identify the need to follow OSP framework
Work with commercial traders and/or Hydrocarbon Deal Maker (HCDM) to develop future operations, new supply chains, new commercial initiatives, and identify mode of transportation
Develop plans to meet the marketing/trading forecast while maintaining competitive position in the market
Assist in negotiating and coordinating new business development opportunities, modifications, portfolio changes and offtake agreements. Review and make comments to commercial proposal-draft agreements with a sense of minimize risk, loss value and increase opportunities to add value during the life of the deal
Establish staff performance and development goals. Deliver staffing plan for known position changes and adequate coverage managing the diverse interests of multiple commercial stakeholders
Assure supply reliability to our stakeholders. Develop contingency plans along with Channel Optimizer (CO)’s guidelines
Business Continuity Plan: awareness and collaboration
Ensure Team is constantly benchmarked internally and externally and keeps pace with changes in local legislations and group expectations.
Support Integrated performance Unit (IPU), Downstream Management Team (DMT) initiatives
Ensure HSSE and Product Quality (PQ) incidents are properly investigated, followed-up and adequately closed and learnings are shared across the terminal community.
Regulatory reporting vision
The role will be expected to develop key elements of the Performance Contract Management (PACM) / Contract Holder (CH) control framework that can be shared across the OSP CH accountabilities
Promote and lead a Learner Mindset, Team collaboration, Operational Excellence and Commercial Mindset
Team Lead will be a leader of community, with an organizational size of 6-7 direct reports.
As this is an operational role, the candidate is expected to be available 24/7 and may be needed to provide a significant degree of off-hours support. Accessibility via phone is always required.
Requirements:
Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis
Bachelor’s or higher-level degree required
Supply, Trading, Logistic and Operations Coordination, or equivalent role for at least 7 years
Spanish speaker (fluently) required. Portuguese will be a plus
Experience leading competence and competitive teams
Deep understanding of integrated trading/supply business models
Experience in managing product quality, road transport, loss control, storage, and/or OSP surveillance systems and developing elements of a robust control framework in a cost management environment
Ability to drive commercial mindset and commercial value-add to maximize business profitability
Ability to interact with a wide range of stakeholders, credible and persuasive in ensuring the needs of our complex businesses are fully understood, resolve conflict, and deliver tough messages
Cash preservation mindset – ability to yield cost savings across business
Robust analytical ability, skilled at advanced database querying to enable identification of critical information to meet decision making needs
Mastery of continuous improvement methodologies to improve processes and ability to configure, test, and implement new tools and/or w-o-w as part of a project team
Customer centricity, commercial value delivery
Experience leading a team is a plus
