Associate General Counsel
The candidate will be responsible for conducting research on all state and local tax matters (income, transaction, property, payroll, etc.) arising from mergers, acquisitions, new product launches or offerings, compliance matters, and the like. Advising the Tax Department on the state tax treatment of firm’s services and purchases. Advising and reviewing the state and local tax aspects of internal reorganizations and M&A. Managing state and local tax controversies, developing strategies and arguments related to those controversies, preparing and filing protests, and working with outside counsel when appropriate. Drafting document production, interrogatories, and other various discovery requests and responses. Drafting briefs and various motions typical in motion practice. Utilizing e-discovery knowledge to aid with handling receipt of discovery and service of discovery complex litigation matters. Must have J.D. from accredited institution. Member of bar of at least one state, NJ or NY bar preferred. Must have 7+years of experience handling state and local taxes. Should have experience with Discovery/Procedural Motions. Strong Finance Background preferred. Strong litigation experience preferred.
