Duties: The candidate will be responsible for development, planning, and application of silvicultural methods and practices. Will apply field practices that implement assigned silviculture decisions by the manager, following the manager's instructions. Collect field data such as numbers of trees by species or by defined condition criteria. Analyze data collected following manager instructions to suggest potential treatment methods that can meet the objectives set for stands. Develop, plan, and apply silvicultural methods and practices for the assigned unit. Make recommendations to the timber management assistant (TMA) about techniques, policies, and procedures to increase the effectiveness or improve the quality of treatment. Participate in timber sale unit layout and sale administration to ensure that silvicultural management objectives are maintained. Conduct examinations of timber compartments and stands on the unit to recommend basic land management decisions. Make plantation and natural regeneration survival examination to determine that results meet accepted standards.
